Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Holden
Hi Joseph, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I mean honestly I’ve gotten to where I am now just by living and developing interests.
I’ve been interested in photography since I was 5 from what I remember, I had been given a Kodak easyshare at the time and I just kinda took it with me when we went somewhere cool. I later on got a hand-me-down iPhone 4 which I took everywhere and took photos of everything, but sadly I lost the phone when we moved and now those photos are lost forever… every single one. As I got older, I really didn’t realize I had a talent in photography, I just took photos with the phones I had and sometimes edited them. It wasn’t until I got my Google Pixel 2 I realized I had a knack for photography, I got interested in windows phones back at last quarter of 2022 and bought a Lumia 1020 in the beginning of 2023 interested in its “revolutionary” camera. I considered it my “main camera” all throughout the year and developed my interest in photography as a hobby towards the end of the year. At the beginning of this year I bought my first genuine camera, an Olympus E-PL6 and a cheap set of lenses. I had that camera and took it pretty much everywhere up until the beginning of August, when I got interested in professional photography. I sold that camera and bought an Olympus E-M1 and started taking photography more seriously, my photos improved to a more professional level and I started having people interested in my photography for the first time. Just recently I built a website to promote my photography and allow people to book photoshoots with me. I haven’t advertised it anywhere yet, but I’m planning to make 1k a month starting next year on photography.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like I said in my story, I’m really just now getting started on my career. My main obstacle right now is being able to manage my time between photography and school.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m most known as a hobbyist photographer and (somewhat) content creator. My main line of work as of now is nature, street, and event photography.
What I’m proud of is really what I’ve been able to achieve with just one year of carrying a camera around.
I guess what sets me apart from others is my quick progression and ability to manage my passion along with everything else.
What does success mean to you?
Success in my words is when that one plan you envisioned finally works out the way you thought it would… or at least in a successful fashion .
