Check Out Kevin Payne’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Payne

Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2002, I began my coaching journey, learning from experienced mentors and launching MYAA (Midwest/Midsouth Youth Athletic Association) in 2005/2006 as my oldest son entered sports. Starting with baseball and expanding to football and basketball, my passion for mentoring and serving the community has always been a part of me. I love to network and create things with likeminded individuals that are considered to be “Bigger than me” . In 2023, MYAA introduced the Fort Worth Tomahawks football program, which quickly gained momentum. Today, we have grown to include baseball, basketball, and have even partnered to create TCYSL (Tarrant County Youth Sports League). Exciting things are happening with the Tomahawks, and I am thrilled to see where this journey will take us next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Despite facing challenges and heartbreak, the program has continued to thrive against all odds. In 2022, tragedy struck when my oldest son fell victim to gun violence, leaving me devastated and on the brink of giving up. But in the midst of darkness, my daughter Karsyn and youngest son, Karter, became the shining light that kept me going. Through the years, we have seen many children and coaches come and go, but our unwavering mission to support the youth in our community has remained steadfast. Our journey has been filled with ups and downs, from finding a home to operate out of to managing the expenses that come with it all. Thankfully, through partnerships with Christ Lutheran Church and Nazarene Christian Academy, we have found not just one, but two places to call home.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In between my heroic adventures (just kidding!), I dedicate my days to the electrifying role of Sales Account Manager at Waste Connections. Serving the vibrant city of Fort Worth, I oversee countless customer accounts to guarantee their trash disposal needs are handled with precision. From setting up new services for savvy individuals looking to save money, to maintaining current clients with unbeatable rates and unparalleled service, every day brings a thrill like no other.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I had whirlwind music career that began when i was 12 years, I have since decided to step away from the spotlight. From captivating audiences all over the nation to sharing the stage with rap legends and rubbing elbows with music moguls, my time in the industry has been nothing short of electrifying. And let’s not forget the exhilarating moment when I signed a record deal with a major label – just another thrilling chapter in my unforgettable music journey. On top of all that, I was even recognized as one of the top 25 baseball players entering high school in 1994, training and playing with former MLB stars along the way.
