Life & Work with Vaishali Verma of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vaishali Verma

Hi Vaishali, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Dallas Charcuterie Lab began with a simple holiday tradition. Every Christmas, I would create charcuterie boards for friends and family. It was my way of bringing everyone together, spreading joy, and sharing my love for delicious, artfully arranged food. Each year, the compliments and enthusiasm grew, and it dawned on me—why not turn this festive passion into a professional endeavor?

Balancing my role as a full-time software engineer, mom, wife, and now business owner wasn’t easy, but the idea of crafting custom charcuterie boards, boxes, and grazing tables that catered to all dietary needs was too exciting to pass up. With the unwavering support of my husband and the encouragement of loved ones, I took the leap and started Dallas Charcuterie Lab.

Today, our offerings are crafted with love and attention to detail, ensuring that every event is memorable and inclusive. The journey has been filled with challenges, but each one has taught me resilience and the importance of following your passions. Dallas Charcuterie Lab is a testament to the power of creativity, determination, and the joy of bringing people together through food.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to building Dallas Charcuterie Lab has definitely been filled with twists and turns. Balancing a full-time career as a software engineer, being a mom, and launching a business is no small feat.

One of the major challenges was time management. With a toddler at home and the demands of my job, finding time to plan, create, and execute my charcuterie designs often meant late nights and early mornings. There were moments when exhaustion would creep in, and I’d question if I could keep all the plates spinning.

Another struggle was learning the ins and outs of running a business. From marketing to managing finances, there was a steep learning curve. I had to quickly adapt and pick up new skills, all while ensuring that my passion for creating inclusive and beautiful charcuterie boards remained at the forefront.

There were also times when things didn’t go as planned—cancellations, supply issues, or even the occasional mishap while assembling a board. Each challenge required quick thinking and problem-solving to ensure everything still turned out perfectly for my clients.
But through it all, I’ve learned to embrace resilience and the importance of having a supportive network. My husband has been my pillar of strength, helping me navigate through the ups and downs. The joy and satisfaction of seeing people enjoy my creations make every challenge worth it.

The journey has taught me valuable lessons in patience, adaptability, and the power of following my passion. I want other women to know that while the path may not always be smooth, the destination is incredibly rewarding.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my professional journey, I’ve had the privilege of wearing multiple hats, each adding a unique layer to my expertise and experience. As a full-time software engineer, I’ve specialized in Java development, working on innovative projects that solve real-world problems. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead teams and mentor budding engineers, helping them navigate the complexities of technology and grow in their careers.

My passion for technology is paralleled only by my love for creativity and bringing people together through food. This dual passion led me to start Dallas Charcuterie Lab, where I create custom charcuterie boards, boxes, and grazing tables that cater to various dietary needs. What sets us apart is our commitment to inclusivity and attention to detail, ensuring that every event is memorable and delicious.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our ability to blend art and taste, crafting charcuterie offerings that are both visually stunning and delectable. Whether it’s a private gathering or a corporate event, our creations are designed to bring joy and foster connections among people.

What truly sets me apart is the ability to balance these diverse roles seamlessly. My background in software engineering has equipped me with problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to innovate—qualities that have been invaluable in running and growing my business. Leading and mentoring in the tech world has also taught me the importance of collaboration, resilience, and continuous learning.

Dallas Charcuterie Lab is more than just a business—it’s a celebration of passion, creativity, and the joy of bringing people together. My story is about embracing both my technical and creative sides, overcoming challenges, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams with determination and heart.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is spending quality time with my family and creating memories together. As a toddler mom and wife, I cherish the moments we share, whether it’s enjoying a cozy family dinner, exploring new places, or simply playing and laughing together. Family time is the foundation that keeps me grounded and inspired in all aspects of my life.

Another thing that brings me immense joy is the variety of cheese! There’s something magical about crafting charcuterie boards with an array of cheeses, each with its unique flavor and texture. From creamy Brie to sharp Cheddar, and everything in between, cheese is a versatile and delicious way to bring people together. It allows me to get creative and cater to different tastes and dietary preferences, making every event special and inclusive.

Balancing family time with my passion for creating charcuterie boards is what keeps me motivated and fulfilled. It’s the perfect blend of love, creativity, and connection that makes life so enriching.
