Today we’d like to introduce you to Selina Lopez
Hi Selina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Fort Worth. I was the first in my family to attend college and received a full ride scholarship to TCU. There I was poured into and learned the importance of community. I made it my mission to serve through education. For 9 years I was a teacher and educator in FWISD and loved working with young people. But after having my last baby, I was ready for a change that would allow me to serve my community while putting my own family first. My husband suggested real estate because I love meeting people. I met with a few realtors in the area and decided to take a leap of faith into the world of real estate. It has been hard work and so much learning, but I absolutely love it. I love serving and educating in homeownership. I especially love working with first time home buyers who have worked so hard to make their goal a reality. I continue (and will continue) to learn everyday in this career. It has not been easy, but I truly enjoy it. I am continuing to grow my business and have developed values of faith, community, education and excellence. I want to serve my community well.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road! A career in real estate is hard work. You have to build a business from the ground up. Some challenges I have faced are learning the industry, building my client data base, gaining experience and learning to utilize social media to market my business. Another challenge I have faced is learning how to stand out in an extremely saturated industry. I am pushing through and learning as much as I can!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a realtor in the DFW area with both buyers and sellers, but specialize in working with first time home buyers. I love educating and encouraging them through the entire process- from the initial “buyer consultation” to getting the keys on closing day. It is a testament of their hard work! I love making closing days special. Buying a home is a huge accomplishment and should be celebrated as such! I aim to provide a luxurious experience at all price points.
I am most proud of my perseverance during my first year as a relator and my dedication to my clients. In 2025, as part of my commitment to community, I donate a portion of every commission to a nonprofit organization of the buyer or seller’s choice. When I started this journey in real estate God made it clear that my business would be community centered and would be use to give back.
One thing that sets me apart from other realtors is understanding the importance of supporting other small businesses. I feature a small business every week in my weekly newsletter. I also share this business on my social media platforms and, in return, have gained so much business and recognition. There’s room for us to all do well and win!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes! First, if you enjoy working in real estate then keep pushing forward and stay committed to learning. Even when you don’t immediately see the fruit of your hard labor. Keep sowing! Second, find a good brokerage and a great mentor! I desperately needed someone to shadow and learn from- and not everyone is willing to do that. So thank you to everyone who has been willing to help me grow!
