Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Rivas.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been in various positions of medicine for the past 30 years. I felt restricted to be able to help patients fully and in my mid 30’s decided to go to college. I started with under grad and then continued all the way through until I received my Master degree in physician assistant studies. During this time I was a full time student, full time mother, full time wife and worked full time until I started the physician assistant program. Once I graduated I started my career in neurology which I enjoyed tremendously. Even with my degree, I felt a little restricted due to insurance protocols and approvals needed to fully help my patients. In my mid 40’s I decided to start my business, Beauty Bar IQ. It has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, even harder than PA school. There are so many small details that go into starting a business to upholds the value of integrity, honestly, value and truly making a difference. I started with one room in Prosper, Texas. Then 3 months later came one room in Frisco and finally 3 months later a room in Midland, Texas. So many moving pieces, so many late night and more than a full time job. My family is so supportive and encouraging, they have been my cornerstone through it all. Next step would be a store front to merge Prosper and Frisco together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sorry, I laughed at loud when I read this question. Not smooth or easy at all. I think the trouble in my profession is that I’m built different than most in the current field I’m in, aesthetics and wellness. I want to help and support people in my field< share all my wisdom. Most in this field are lips sealed, they believe sharing knowledge will hurt their business. I focus on my business and help all who I can regardless of the standard to not help in the industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a physician assistant that wants to help patients be healthy, feel confident and live a great life. I specialize in aesthetics and wellness. I’m known for being honest and caring. I’m most proud of the community service I do. I’ve been involved in investing time to give back to the community in numerous ways including:
Bowl for kids sake
Mary Ministries- mentoring and teaching life skills to teenage pregnant moms
Habitat for humanity- building homes for under privileged
Operation warm the heart: Collect clothes, shoes, blankets, socks, hat to help the homeless stay warm. This event was created by my son at the age of 8 years old.
The heart of Christmas: Give Christmas to pediatric Oncology patient sand their families. This even was crated by my daughter at the age of 12.
What sets me apart for others is truly the ability to see the world differently. I don’t believe in competition, I believe in team work. I don’t bend values or morals even if it seems like a faster way to get where I need to get. I believe in putting in the time and being consistent. I’m willing to bring others along with me so that they can grown, evolve and be the best version of themselves as well.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m an easy person to work with. I bring genuine high energy to all that I do, even in times that are more challenging. Although I will collaborate with all, I have a hand full of people that will support me the way I support them. What I do, what I offer, knowledge I share I do so with no expectations.
