The dream of Michael Rene Fragrance came to life in 2022, born from both legacy and love. Inspired by the respect and admiration of my father, Michael Rene—my greatest role model—this journey began with more than just a passion for scent. It began with a desire to honor a name, a spirit, and a standard of excellence.
From a young age, I was captivated by the world of fragrance. Scents had the power to evoke emotion, spark memories, and tell unspoken stories. But I often found myself frustrated by how inaccessible luxury fragrances could be—both in cost and transparency. I wanted more control over what I put on my body and knew that quality shouldn’t come with an intimidating price tag.
Determined to change that narrative, I began blending my own fragrances, focusing on cleaner ingredients and versatile scents that didn’t sacrifice elegance. Each formula reflected my careful attention and creativity—an artful balance of complexity, quality, and intention. Still, as the vision for Michael Rene began to take shape, I realized something vital was missing.
That’s when my wife stepped in—not just as a partner, but as a co-visionary.
With a deep love for all things that smell good and a passion for natural body care, she brought a fresh energy to the brand. Her eye for detail, ability to dream bigger, and dedication to the finer elements of the user experience helped evolve Michael Rene from a personal passion into a shared purpose. Together, we infused the brand with a soulfulness that blends masculine edge and feminine elegance, creating something both elevated and approachable.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey of starting a business is never smooth—especially when you’re building something real. If it feels too easy, you’re probably playing it safe. The friction, the stretch, the setbacks—that’s where the magic (and the growth) lives.
Starting a fragrance business is equal parts passion and perseverance. You’re not just selling scent—you’re selling emotion, identity, and experience in a bottle. And that takes heart, grit, and a whole lot of faith. One of the biggest challenges is convincing people to trust a fragrance they can’t smell through a screen. That’s where storytelling, quality, and authenticity become everything. Behind every bottle is a balancing act—safe ingredients, creative vision, regulatory compliance, and the emotional connection you hope someone feels when they wear your scent.
The market is crowded, but the real challenge is staying true to your voice. Trends will come and go, but authenticity will always set you apart.
Fragrance is deeply personal. Creating something that speaks to someone’s soul—while navigating cost, quality, and competition—is no easy feat. But it’s always worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It’s funny you should ask that—because on paper, my wife and I are both engineers. She’s a Systems Engineer, and I’m a Software Systems Engineer, so it usually surprises people when they find out we run a fragrance business. But that’s part of what makes our journey so special. What started as a passion project quickly turned into something much more meaningful.
We specialize in all things fragrance—from handcrafting perfumes, body butters, and candles to hosting fragrance-making classes and private scent experiences. We’ve even created custom scents for weddings and curated gift boxes for every kind of celebration. And yes, we make everything in-house—from the formulas to the labels and packaging—even a skincare line for kids.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just make products—we create experiences. We help people connect to memories, emotions, and moments through scent. And thanks to our engineering backgrounds, we’ve built the entire brand from the ground up—from the website to the design work—using skills we never imagined would support something so creative.
We’re especially proud to offer a launchpad for others looking to start their own fragrance lines. Whether it’s a bride wanting a signature wedding scent or a new entrepreneur with a dream, we love helping people bring their vision to life.

What makes you happy?
You mean in addition to living a life of peace and good health? What truly makes me happy is operating in purpose. There’s something deeply fulfilling about taking the gifts God gave me—my talents, my creativity, my drive—and using them to bless others. Whether it’s through creating something meaningful in our fragrance business or simply showing up for the people I love, I find joy in serving with intention.
Seeing our kids healthy, joyful, and full of wonder brings me a kind of happiness I can’t even put into words. Giving them the experiences I once only dreamed of growing up—that’s a reward in itself.
And honestly, watching the mission statement my wife and I wrote for our marriage come to life every day is one of my greatest joys. We didn’t just write words on a page—we committed to building something rooted in faith, love, purpose, and legacy. Living that out loud makes me proud and keeps me grounded in what matters most. Our business is a part of that.
