Hidden Gems: Meet Kris Hayden of Shooting Aces LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Hayden.

Kris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey in the military, where I developed discipline, leadership, and a strong foundation in safety. After my service, I launched Shooting Aces LLC to provide firearms and security training in my community. While running my business, I pursued my Associate’s in Criminal Justice, which strengthened my knowledge and credibility in the field. I also became certified as an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and Texas DPS Instructor. Beyond training, I’ve written and published books like My First Shot, Shooting Aces New Shooter Workbook and the Shooting Aces Activity Book to make firearm safety approachable for families and children.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced challenges like navigating strict regulations, limited resources, and the public’s perception of the firearms industry. Balancing school, military transition, and starting a business tested me, but each struggle taught me resilience and pushed me to stay focused on my mission of safety and education.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Shooting Aces LLC is a North Texas firearms and security training company built on safety, education, and responsibility. We train individuals, families, and professionals, offering courses in firearm safety, personal protection, and licensed security instruction. What makes us unique is our educational reach we publish Firearm Education resources for families, bridging the gap between training and lifelong learning. Since launching, we’ve trained over 300 students. Our mission is simple: to build confidence, responsibility, and preparedness in every person we teach.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5 – 10 years, firearm and security training will become more focused on accessibility, education, and professionalism. Communities are seeking trusted programs that teach safety to both adults and youth, and technology will make training easier to access online. With regulations tightening, companies that focus on responsibility and community trust will lead the way and Shooting Aces is positioning itself to be one of them.
