Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Ford.
Hi Christina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Some of my early life experiences made me feel overlooked and underestimated. Yet, I came to understand that what happens to us is not always a reflection of our worth or actions. Even as a youngster, I harbored a relentless spirit, focusing on what I could influence and control. I steadfastly believed that the beginning of my story did not have to dictate its ending.
I am proud of my younger self, who showed the discipline and determination needed to create the life I enjoy today.
Today, my life is abundant with blessings—a career I am passionate about, a loving husband, six children, and a loyal dog. Despite this abundance, life can still be wonderfully chaotic.
Through both challenges and triumphs, I have learned that my core principles remain unchanged.
Now as an adult, I am always eager to learn, take responsibility for mistakes, and will continue to pursue everything the Lord has planned for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While I faced personal challenges, I also grappled with feelings of inadequacy in my professional life—an issue I still compete with today. Despite achieving success, I often find myself preoccupied with fears of failure and questioning whether I can sustain my progress and reach the next milestones in my journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Kids Inn Child Care Center/ The Rebound Foundation ?
I have the privilege of navigating the intersection of for-profit and nonprofit sectors through my endeavors. I own Kids Inn Child Care Center and serve as the founder and director of The Rebound Foundation.
Kids Inn Child Care Center operates as a drop-in childcare facility, providing flexible and affordable childcare options for parents and families.
The Rebound Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse by offering safe housing and preventive education.
My commitment to adopting innovative strategies rather than adhering to traditional models distinguishes me from others in the field. My experience in the nonprofit sector has enabled me to establish a for-profit business, leveraging insights gained from my nonprofit background. I have witnessed the transformative power of partnerships and understand the importance of honing in on specific models and services. Rather than competing with what’s already existing and functioning, I focus on identifying community needs and filling service gaps with effective solutions.
I take great pride in the stories of families and individuals who have benefited from our services, highlighting the impact we have made in their lives.
While it is one thing to envision a project with the hope that it will be well-received, it is entirely different to witness that vision come to life and hear others state sentiments that inspired its formation.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
My family moved to the Dallas area in 2024. Having grown up in Chicago, I truly appreciate being back in proximity to a great downtown filled with events and activities. With my strong passion for sports, attending various sporting events, particularly supporting the SMU Mustangs has been great.
Chicago has truly spoiled me when it comes to food. I must admit that I find the local food styles and flavors somewhat lacking (sorry!) compared to what I know from Chicago. Although I haven’t lived at home for quite a while, I’ve adapted to different styles of food and take full advantage of the chance to indulge in my hometown favorites during family visits.
