The editorial team has a special attachment to our new series, The Trailblazers: Rewriting the Narrative, because so many of us feel that media portrayals of women have been too one dimensional. Today, women are doing incredible things in all fields – from science and technology to finance, law, business, athletics and more. With the Trailblazers series, we hope to highlight and celebrate female role models, encourage more equal and just representation in the media, and help foster a more tight-knit community locally helping women find mentors, business partners, friends and more.
Below, you’ll find some incredible trailblazers from in and around North Dallas that we hope you will check out, follow and support.

I first fell in love with all things interior design when I was ten years old…all thanks to HGTV! I watched one of their shows when I discovered the network; that was the first time I witnessed a before and after design transformation, and since then, I’ve been hooked! I was so enamored with the interior design world that I knew I HAD to have my own interior design company. Read more>>

My love for makeup started in 2014. I use to have my friend Christina do my makeup for my birthday and going out. I knew she was tired of me asking, so I learned how to do eyebrows and shortly after, I started doing my own makeup. It was in 2015 when I was at Grambling State University and my roommate, Christen, was a hairstylist and loved playing in makeup. Read more>>

Snatchem’ Tribe is a women empowerment and networking company designed to help women snatch their dreams and goals by force! Immediately after graduating with my Masters in Communication Studies, I decided to go full time with my business and am pretty proud of where it has evolved throughout the years. JoyPop was birthed out of being a little bit bored, a little bit broke, and God pushing me to my purpose. I have always been a creative soul. I took my first photo back in August 2018. I started as a way to destress from school, work, and life. From that point, I continued to create with talented artists as well as my friends. I never thought it would turn into a passion I can’t live without today. Read more>>

I am an ER Veterinarian in Plano. I grew up on a small farm in El Campo, Texas, the Home of the fighting Ricebirds. I have loved photography even from a young age. My inspiration to pick up a camera was my Uncle Jack. He would walk around our family’s holiday events with the multiple windup cameras taking candid shots, and I would follow closely behind taking pictures of the action. Read more>>
