Today we’d like to introduce you to Florian Kloes.
Florian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?I was born in Germany, but I’ve spent over 20 years in Dallas. I didn’t grow up in Denton, but there’s something about this town that feels different — in the best way. It’s got heart, it’s got character, and it’s got a community that shows up for each other. That’s what pulled me in.
When I first took over the restaurant, it was called The Dive. I ran with that name for a while, but over time, I realized it didn’t fit what this place really is. This isn’t a dive bar — not even close. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a full kitchen, live music, a private event space, and the only patio in Denton that overlooks a lake. That’s something special, and the old name just didn’t do it justice. So we rebranded it The LakeHaus — a name that nods to my German roots, but reflects what we’ve truly built here.
With the support of my wife Jackleen, we’ve created something we’re proud of — not just a restaurant, but a place where the community can come together. Families, friends, coworkers, sports fans — everyone’s welcome. Whether you’re watching the game, enjoying brunch on the patio, or booking out the event room, we’re here to give you a great experience.
And we take real pride in our food. Everything is scratch-made and full of flavor. No shortcuts, no frozen fillers — just real food prepared right, every single day.
The LakeHaus is built for Denton. It’s relaxed, it’s local, and it’s meant to bring people together — with the kind of view and vibe you won’t find anywhere else in town.
We’re just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve had apartment construction going on right next door for nearly three years, and unfortunately, their main construction entrance has been through our parking lot — making things tough with blocked access and limited space.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The LakeHaus ?
I stay involved in all parts of The LakeHaus — from the food and service to events, repairs, and keeping the vibe just right. Whether it’s planning the next big weekend, tweaking the menu, or jumping in wherever I’m needed, I do whatever it takes to keep things running smooth and the energy high.
