Today we’d like to introduce you to Maranda Martin.
Hi Maranda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I graduated from Ogle College then immediately got a job in a salon, called Girl Talk! In the beginning I was only an hair stylist. That’ is until my best friend , who is a makeup artist , noticed how talented I was applying full face makeup! She encouraged me to take make up serious and that’ is when everything changed . Through out the years , I ended up servicing with actresses , which lead me to now work with independent film producers!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been licensed for alittle over10 years so no it definitely had its ups and down. I am a single parent so there were times I had to work two/three jobs at a time to take care of my son . I have worked in many salons and even managed an Walmart salon while working a state job for years because I believed in my self so much and wouldn’t quit being a stylist . I thank my village for helping me and believed in my vision as well.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I believe I am an artist ! Being a hairstylist/ MUA is about being creative and embracing art on a person . Through out the years I have studied pretty much everything in that industry, but I specialize in natural hair, wigs and natural glam makeup.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am super shy and have social anxiety sometimes,
