Conversations with the Inspiring Keisha Howard Gaddis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Howard Gaddis.

Keisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started life coaching and counseling as a way to give back to girls in our community. I am extremely passionate about the work that I do because I was a teen who struggled with self-esteem, body image and poor decision making. So, I have made it my life’s mission to provide a service where girls don’t have to struggle in silence, to provide education to parents on all of the hot topics affecting teen girls and to bridge the gap in communication between girls and their parents.

In my life coaching practice, I provide a safe place for pre-teen and teen girls to talk about the tough stuff that affects girls in today’s generation, while also providing tangible tips and tools for them to navigate the ups and downs of growing into a woman. I also provide workshops for parents on the latest issues affecting teen girls today. My goal is to help the girls have a smooth transition to adulthood, while also maintaining open communication with their parents.

I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2010. Then, I became a Certified Life Coach by the Certified Coaches Federation in 2014.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t say that it has been a smooth road. Running a successful business is a lot of work between marketing, scheduling clients, creating valuable content for your blog, researching and reading to stay up to speed in your field, and actually providing the service. Even though it’s a lot of work, the work that I do is very fulfilling. I love seeing the light bulb go off when I am Life Coaching with my clients and I especially love when their parents notice their daughter’s growth. It’s fun, worthwhile and exciting to see my clients overcome their challenges and grow in a positive direction.

what should we know about Coach Keisha? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Life Coach and Counselor who specializes in healthy girl development. I mentor pre-teen and teen girls while strategizing with them to overcome challenges. Those challenges can range anywhere from poor academic grades to low self-esteem, poor self-control, smart social media usage, bullying, goal setting, friendship making, communicating with parents and low motivation. Additionally, I am also a Coach for parents as I love educating parents on the latest trends and issues affecting teen girls today.

I am known for providing insightful Girls Groups which are safe places for girls to come together, talk about the tough stuff and gain tips from me and the other girls on how to grow through their challenges. I find that the girls really like having a non-judgmental, down to earth, an environment where they can “keep it real” while learning and encouraging each other at the same time.

I am also a speaker and love presenting workshops on topics ranging from self-esteem to bullying, smart social media usage, how to gain confidence, etiquette and for parents, I present on the latest issues affecting teen girls such as social media apps and trends.

What sets me apart from others is that I specialize in teen girls. Teen girls are the only clients I work with and the only clients I have been working with for the past 5 years.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I am inspired by the girls who I work with. Their transparency and willingness to grow is my motivation.
