Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Tisdale.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t come into flower farming with a business plan or a horticulture background – just a love for gardening, a willingness to learn, and the support of my family. Gardening has always been my creative outlet, but this journey began out of a deeper need: to find joy in the day-to-day and to feel like I was creating something that truly mattered. In the middle of family life and a corporate career, I felt pulled toward work that felt more present, more connected, and more meaningful. What started as a seed of curiosity grew into an idea and in 2025 – Sandy Acre Flower Farm was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a flower farm and experiencing my first growing season came with real challenges from the beginning. Farming in Zone 8a means navigating unpredictable weather swings, heat and timing sensitive planting and crop decisions that have the potential to change from week to week depending on the season.
On the business side, managing a website, marketing and logistics added another layer of complexity, especially without a formal business or marketing background. Balancing a full-time job alongside building a flower farm tested both my time and energy, often turning early mornings, late nights, and weekends into workdays. Despite the stress, these challenges became teachers – sharpening decision-making, strengthening resilience, and reinforcing that every successful harvest and bouquet is the result of hard-earned progress.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sandy Acre Flower Farm?
At Sandy Acre Flower Farm, every bloom tells a story. We’re a small-scale family-owned flower farm based in Azle, Texas. Our farm is named for our 1-acre sandy soil property which we reside that currently has over 400 square feet in production. What truly distinguishes Sandy Acre Flower Farm is honesty and heart. Every bouquet reflects our commitment to growing seasonal, environmentally friendly, high quality fresh flowers nurtured with care from seed to bloom. Our farm features a vibrant mix of Ranunculus, Tulips, Lisianthus, Dahlias and Zinnia’s to name a few varieties offering a diverse mixture of colors and textures all season long. Because our flowers are grown and harvested locally, they stay fresher longer – often lasting up to two weeks in your home and include flowers not found at your local grocery store.
The heart of our brand is intention – choosing to grow slowly, sustainably, and with purpose. We are not just about selling flowers, but about creating moments of joy and connection. From farmers markets to events and CSA Bouquet Subscriptions, we create opportunities to gather, create and connect through blooms.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was spending time with family in Brownwood, Texas by the lake at our yearly family reunions.
