Community Highlights: Meet C. W. Hearrell of Stetson Title Co/ Hearrell Law FIrm

Today we’d like to introduce you to C. W. Hearrell.

Hi C. W., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in humble beginnings in Sherman, TX. My father was a Minister and my mother a school teacher. Above all, they put a heavy emphasis on education and hard work ethic. I attended Austin College where I received a Bachelor’s in History & English. With these degrees– all I could do was teach. I began working for Fort Worth ISD as a High School English Teacher and finished my MBA during this time. I enjoyed teaching, but I felt limited by the four walls of my classroom. I decided to pursue law school, but I had to eat… so I found the only law school that had a night program, St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio with the plan of teaching during the day and attending law school at night. I LOVED the evening section of law students and made many close friends who were climbing the ladder of their professional journey, just like me. My second year of law school, I began working for Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) as part of their in-house legal counsel team. SwRI was essentially like the Big Bang Theory TV show. It was a company full of high-tech researchers and brilliant, genius, science guys. I stood out like a sore thumb. My time there perfected my legal research ability and I am very grateful for the years I spent with SwRI. I graduated law school in 2019 and took the Bar Exam in February of 2020…. 2 weeks later, the world entered lock-down with COVID. My post-graduation plans went quickly up in smoke and I had to figure out what to do next. I was admitted to the Bar on May 15, 2020 and with a pandemic of prospects, I began my own law practice with the intention of sticking it out until something better came along. After 3 months, I realized nothing could ever top this! I absolutely loved being my own boss and growing a law practice. For the first year, I traveled wherever the client (and the money) was located. I would take a meeting in Dallas one afternoon, then Austin the next morning, then San Antonio, then Houston… I was basically living on I-35. Somehow in the midst of the 2020 chaos, the practice worked! My law practice focused on all areas of law (except Criminal & Family Law). During this time, my life drastically changed. I always knew I would meet my wife in Church someday, and one Sunday morning, right before the service started, I received a “ding” on my Bumble dating app, and I met my wife. We had our first date in September of 2020, I proposed the following groundhog day, and we were married on May 15, 2021. In 2022, I was able to purchase office space in my hometown of Sherman, TX and we began the remodeling process. In Fall of 2022 I was hired as a Business Law Professor for Grayson College (back to teaching) and I spend my days alternating between my College & Law Firm Responsibilities. In January of 2023, my wife & I welcomed our first son, Jackson; and we are happy to announce that boy # 2 is due August of 2026. In recent news, my law practice has entered a new phase. Most of my clients were seeking real estate help with the recent Texas land boom, and the natural next step was for me to open a Title Company. Partnered with my father, Stephen Hearrell, CPA, and my brother, Colt Hearrell; we opened Stetson Title Company in Sherman TX in January of 2026.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lordy no. It was definitely not a smooth road. The best lessons learned in life are taught through the school of hard-knocks. First and foremost, I am a creative, fine-arts brained individual. My wife describes me as “The Donkey from Shrek.” While this mindset is a lot of fun, it does not easily translate into the business or legal world. School did NOT come easily to me. I failed multiple times (in big ways). But each time I fell down, I picked myself up again and kept going. Many people view failure as a dead end; it’s not… its just a detour. Law school was a sacrifice. I gave up fun nights and partying in my 20s, to pursue a life-long goal. It was the academic equivalent to gladiators in the Colosseum. Then, at the end of the gauntlet competition, when everything was suppose to be coming-up-roses; a pandemic hit and derailed my best-laid plans. Looking back, thank God it did!

As you know, we’re big fans of Stetson Title Co/ Hearrell Law FIrm. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Hearrell Law Firm focuses on providing legal counsel for Business Law clients, with an emphasis in Real Estate. Stetson Title Company focuses on providing closings for first-time homeowners, single family residences, commercial, farm & ranch, etc. What sets Stetson Title Company apart? We are a highly-skilled family business. If you have a multi-million dollar real estate transaction, you want professionals you can trust. As an attorney, I review every contract, deed, survey, etc. to verify your closing is secure. Stephen Hearrell, CPA reviews all of the closing statements to verify every dollar is correct to the penny. Our Escrow Officer, Colt Hearrell (formerly of Chase Bank) works with Lenders / Mortgage Companies to make sure every application, payoff, etc. is correct. We are one-stop shopping, family owned, and (as humbly as I can put this) highly educated.

What makes you happy?
2 Things: My faith in Jesus Christ & my family. Through every struggle in life, every heart ache, and every failure; I was not alone. My relationship in Christ helped me weather all the storms of life and I shudder to think where I would be had it not been for Him. Second, I am a family man. I try to take off work on Fridays to spend a long weekend with my wife & children. Occasionally, I see reels on Instagram of people traveling the world, living the “high-life.” Listen, that’s all fake… if you want to live the high-life, take a 3 year old boy to a ranch and let him play with cows. There is more adventure in the spirit of a 3 year old than any reel, tiktok, or viral video. As a point of emphasis, my wife is the most wonderful woman in the world. She puts up with my craziness, my teasing, and my off-the-wall humor. She has never contemplated divorce, but I know she regularly contemplates homicide. She is my best friend, my better-half, and my partner in crime.
