Community Highlights: Meet Jennifer Grinke of Grinke Stewart Law, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Grinke.

Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I knew I wanted to practice in an area of law where I could have a direct and lasting impact on people’s lives. I committed to the practice of family law—a decision that has continued to shape both my career and my sense of purpose.
Over time, that commitment evolved into something more entrepreneurial. I took the step to co-found my own firm, Grinke Stewart Law, with the vision of building a practice rooted not only in legal excellence, but in genuine human connection. Since then, I’ve remained focused on growing the firm in a way that reflects those values—thoughtfully, intentionally, and always with the client experience at the forefront.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly hasn’t been without its challenges. Family law is uniquely demanding because it sits at the intersection of legal complexity and emotional intensity. You are often guiding people through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, and that responsibility carries weight.

Early in my career, one of the greatest challenges was learning how to balance empathy with objectivity—how to fully support my clients while still providing clear, strategic advocacy. That balance isn’t something you master overnight; it’s something that evolves with experience, perspective, and a willingness to grow.

Building and expanding my own practice introduced an entirely different set of challenges. Stepping into a leadership role required me to think beyond individual cases and consider the broader vision—how to cultivate a team, create a culture, and maintain a consistently high standard of service. It pushed me to grow not just as an attorney, but as a business owner.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Grinke Stewart Law, we are intentionally focused on one area: family law. While many firms take a more generalized approach, we believe there is real value in depth over breadth. Family law is nuanced, constantly evolving, and deeply personal. By dedicating our practice exclusively to this field, we are able to remain highly attuned to both the legal landscape and the human dynamics at play.

Our philosophy is centered on what we call “advocacy with empathy.” It’s more than a tagline—it’s a guiding principle. We take the time to understand who our clients are, what they value, and what outcomes matter most to them. That understanding informs every strategy, every conversation, and every step we take on their behalf.

As the firm continues to grow, my focus remains on preserving that level of intentionality. Growth, to me, is not just about scale—it’s about strengthening the quality of what we offer and ensuring that every client continues to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding the right mentor in family law isn’t about luck—it’s about being intentional, visible, and genuinely engaged with the legal community. The good news is that family law, as a practice area, tends to be more relationship-driven and collaborative than many others, which actually works in your favor.

At this stage in my life and career, what matters most is alignment—showing up each day in a way that reflects my values, both personally and professionally. I always look for mentors who align with my practice style and values.
