Today we’d like to introduce you to Yael Stromer.
Hi Yael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as a classroom teacher, then became a learning specialist in special education, and eventually a dyslexia interventionist.
Throughout that time, I worked with so many students who were incredibly bright but struggled with things like organization, time management, and getting started on tasks, all the behind-the-scenes skills that somehow no one actually teaches.
What I realized is that they didn’t lack ability, they were missing systems. Once I started focusing on executive functioning and working with students one-on-one, everything began to click. They improved academically, but more importantly, they started to feel more confident.
That’s what led me to start Adducated, to create something beyond traditional tutoring, where students build real skills and start to see themselves as capable learners.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge for me was figuring out how to pivot from being a teacher to being a business owner. I knew how to design lessons, manage a classroom, and support students, but I had no idea how to build a website, create a brand, or even things like setting up scheduling systems or writing marketing content.
It really felt like learning a completely new language. I had to keep reminding myself that I could learn these skills, just like I tell my students. So I started small, teaching myself how to build my website, create resources, and reach families.
There’s still a lot I’m learning, but I’m really proud of how far it’s come. I’ve built something that allows me to take what I love about teaching and bring it to a much wider group of students and families.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Adducated, I work with students who are bright and capable but struggle with executive functioning skills like organization, time management, and getting started on tasks. While I do support academics, my work goes beyond traditional tutoring.
I specialize in teaching students how to learn, helping them break down assignments, plan their time, and build systems they can use independently.
What sets my work apart is that I focus on the root of the challenge. Instead of just helping students finish an assignment, I’m teaching them how to manage it on their own next time. That shift is what leads to real, lasting change.
What I’m most proud of is seeing students go from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident and in control. That growth goes far beyond grades, it changes how they see themselves as learners.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d like to encourage any teacher readers out there to remember that if they have a dream to do something outside of the classroom, it’s never too late!
