Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Perkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Perkins.

Ashley , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My great grandmother the late Katherine W English thought me how to hand sew when I was younger especially if my clothes needed a quick fix.
I’ve always been into fashion or dressing outside of the norm. So in my adults years Sunday was the day of the week you put on your best for church. As far back as I could remember Sundays were for church. The church I currently go to the saints come with the flyest fits but I got to a point where I got tired of showing up to church and someone have the same thing on so in 2023 I started making dresses for me and my daughter to wear to church. Which in that year my self taught skills sky rocketed so much I had people asking me to make them something or telling me I should start a business. In September of 2024 I lost my mother which at first I was completely done with life and really wanted to give up. After months of allowing life to knock me down the light bulb flicked on in my head and Always Pretty Couture was birthed.

I specialize in bringing fashion visions to life whether it’s a bold custom design or a timeless classic. Every stitch is guided by faith, intention, and a love for serving others through style. I’m here to turn your fashion desires into reality, one garment at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road some of the struggles I faced were:

Self- doubt
Depression
Anxiety
Grief

I almost allowed these struggles to quit my business and the purpose God placed within me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a self-taught seamstress, guided by faith and driven by purpose. What started as a passion grew into a calling—creating custom dresses that make women feel confident, beautiful, and truly seen. I specialize in designing unforgettable, one-of-a-kind pieces that are tailored not just to the body, but to the spirit of the woman wearing them.
My work is known for its attention to detail, creativity, and heart. Every stitch carries intention. I don’t just make dresses—I bring visions to life. Whether it’s for a special occasion or a once-in-a-lifetime moment, I strive to create something that feels personal, timeless, and powerful.
I’m also proud to offer my work at affordable prices, because I believe every woman deserves to feel stunning and confident without it being out of reach. Quality, care, and beauty should be accessible.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come through faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s plan for my life. I didn’t follow a traditional path or formal training—everything I know, I’ve learned through dedication, prayer, and hands-on experience. That journey has shaped not only my skills, but my character.
What sets me apart is my foundation. I am a woman of God first, and that influences everything I create. I design with purpose, integrity, and love. I listen deeply to my clients and treat every piece as if it’s meant for something greater—because it is. My goal is always to leave a lasting impression, not just through the dress, but through the experience.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you’re just starting out, my biggest piece of advice is simple: ask for help and always stay true to who you are.

Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and learn from others. You don’t have to have everything figured out on your own—growth comes from being open, humble, and willing to learn. There is strength in community, and the right guidance can save you time, frustration, and help sharpen your gift.

At the same time, never lose yourself trying to follow trends or compare your journey to someone else’s. What God placed in you is unique, and that’s your power. Stay authentic in your style, your vision, and your values. That’s what will make your work stand out and truly connect with people.

I also wish I knew that it’s okay to start small. You don’t need perfection to begin—just faith, consistency, and the courage to keep going. Trust your process, be patient with yourself, and remember why you started.
