Life & Work with Nora Garcia of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nora Garcia.

Hi Nora , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My interest in makeup started in high school. I attended and graduated from a technical school that had the program for cosmetology but quickly realized what I loved was makeup and makeup alone, I had no interest in hair or nails. I started freelancing at 20 and practicing with my family. I know for sure my sister was getting tired of being my model because she started telling her friends that I did makeup and I started getting inquiries.

When Covid shutdowns happened I got laid off of my job and that gave me the push I needed to dedicated myself more on the makeup, started reaching out to hairstylist (many became really good friends of mines) and was able to expand my work into the Quinceañera world.

A year later I met an amazing woman( Carolina Imperial) that gave me that little push to have a studio and become her Makeup Artist. That opened a whole new door to the world of show business. Got to experience backstage and photoshoots of entertainment/ Singing world. It was amazing seeing my work being published for the first time on the Fort Worth Weekly magazine.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, being a mom of 3 and being a makeup artist it’s rarely glamorous or smooth as it looks online. Having to sacrifice weekends to either glam a full party or spending time with my kids has been the most challenging.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Quinceañera Glam and Social Glam. I’m proud that I have the ability to customize each look to match the clients dress, theme, and personality. Whether it’s a soft glam or full glam or something in between.

My main priority is to create a comfortable experience for my clients specially for young clients who may not wear makeup often.

What sets me apart is my attention. To detail, my patience and my passion for making every client feel seen and cared for. I don’t just do makeup, I create an experience where my clients ca feel relaxed, confident, and excited from the moment they sit in my chair.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
It always surprises my clients when I tell them I used to be a barber a few years ago. It’s something that I honestly don’t know how I lasted 2 years doing, if I knew deep down what I wanted was to focus on makeup alone.
