Today we’d like to introduce you to Cuinn Cornwell.
Hi Cuinn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been a creative and inquisitive person, drawn to exploring a variety of different artistic media. Though I got my start as a traditional artist, I chose to pursue graphic design in college because I loved the idea of creative problem‑solving and building visuals with intention. I graduated from the Communication Design program at the University of North Texas (UNT) in 2024 and have been successfully navigating the job market ever since.
I am currently working as an in-house graphic designer in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This wasn’t the direction I imagined in design school, but it’s been a surprisingly great fit. I’m really enjoying the work and glad I followed a path I didn’t expect.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road that’s led me here has definitely not been smooth. Finishing high school and starting college during the COVID pandemic was one of the hardest periods of my life. It was difficult to build independence, identity, and community at a time when you need all three. On top of that, applying to one of the university’s most competitive programs while taking art studio classes online added a whole new layer of stress.
Once I was accepted into the Communication Design program, I finally found a tight‑knit community in my peers and professors, which carried me through the rest of my college experience. Graduating into a bleak design job market was disheartening for me and so many of my classmates, but I’m grateful to have since found stability and fulfillment in my career.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a graphic designer with a generalist skillset. A few strengths include brand identity design, publication layout, and illustration. I have recently found a lot of joy in returning to one of my favorite traditional artistic mediums, watercolor, through private commissions.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend creative, strategic design with exceptional reliability, proactive communication, and a collaborative energy that elevates every project and team I work with.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that there is always something fun to do in Dallas, including enjoying a wide variety of amazing food!
My least favorite thing about Dallas is the traffic.
