Today we’d like to introduce you to Meha Jha Joseph.
Hi Meha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I work full time in the tech industry. I followed a typical South Asian career path and have always been looking for fun ways outside of the office to channel and grow my creative energy.
I’ve moved over 10 times in my life. I’ve studied abroad in China. One year I lived in Texas, Singapore, and Ohio in a single year for work. No matter where I have lived, I’ve also loved hosting themed events, shopping good deals, details, fashion, travel, and exploring the local finds. I’m big about not only creating memories but also living life to the fullest and documenting memories. I treat almost everything like it is an occasion especially if it means I can buy a new outfit.
Last year, I got married and moved to Dallas. My husband and I did the majority of the planning for a 350+ guest Indian wedding and we grew to love the industry. We saw how much goes into planning a wedding and with most Indian weddings, there’s so much going on that you don’t get to enjoy or even see every detail on your wedding day. Even though it was a magical and happy day as is, we wanted to experience more of it, but as the bride and groom, it’s impossible. Our photo, video, and content team did a great job capturing our day, but we wished we had even more coverage to relive our wedding day.
Hence, I started diving into the world of wedding and event content creation. I love not only capturing but appreciating the details and the people that make these days happen. In reality, I feel more like a hype girl for vendors and families. As I’ve journeyed into this space as a passion project, it has given me a new eye on how I see and explore the places I live and the people in my community.
I’m continuing to evolve in what I want this business to be, mainly wanting to bring more lifestyle and career content that expands beyond wedding and events. As someone who got married in my mid-30s, I’ve seen how young adult singles can feel delayed in celebrating “typical” life milestones you culturally are expected to hit by a certain age. From my own journey, I have much to share that will hopefully inspire and help others feel special, accomplished, and celebration-worthy every day no matter their life stage or age.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is so much hustle in starting something up. I’m blessed to have a full-time career that I enjoy both from a work and lifestyle perspective. I’ve always worked for well-established and resourced companies. This is the first time I’m building something from the ground-up and while working full time. While balancing time, valuing my time, and establishing discipline as a newlywed and a full-time corporate employee is tough, what surprised me is the confidence and resilience you need to have with learning and evolving. From the many vendors I’ve worked with, they’ve said no one really talks about the pivot or discovery in their journey. Most vendors and creators I know started with an idea or interest that eventually evolved or became something else altogether. That is what I am also exploring and trying to be open-handed and minded about to see how this business evolves. The other is that it is incredibly humbling and vulnerable to publicly create content. It was something I wanted to do for years and friends would encourage me to do, but I always feared to do it until my husband encouraged me!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work full time in industry. I’m a chemical engineer and product marketing professional. I work in the industrial software space where my clients are Oil & Gas, Mining, and Chemical companies. My full-time work is a mix of technical and creative. Much of my dynamic thinking shows up at work and in my creative background. I like to think of myself as a visionary but also tend to be a Type A personality with planning and execution. I love luxury and the details but also love to find a good deal. I’ll be your biggest hype girl while documenting precious memories but will also be problem-solving on the day of your event. Similarly, I have a South Asian background but also have experience with other weddings and events and relationships with vendors that service a range of cultural communities. Most of all, what I strive to be is a kind person. Sometimes this industry can feel like “The Devil Wears Prada.”
This evolution beyond wedding & event content has resulted in a wide range of relatable experiences that can help me better connect with others through their life stages. Through the experiences of navigating modern dating, starting over in multiple cities, living abroad, navigating corporate careers, adopting AI, and young adulting, I have both made mistakes and done things well and hopefully creating this type of authentic content can help with inspiration, celebration, and advice for daily living, not just the big occasions.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being willing to evolve and continually learn and adapt. The market and trends move fast, so staying attuned to client and audience needs but also maintaining authenticity is critically important. The most unique habit of character is to celebrate others and help promote other vendors. That often looks like referring them, making content about them, or engaging with their content.
