Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Wells.
Hi Sierra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am from a small town in Texas, but I am always in the DFW area visiting bookstores, like Monkey & Dog Books or Recluse Bookshop. We don’t really have bookstores close to where I live.
I started reading at a very young age, but I really started getting serious about it when I was around 11-14.
I went to Tarleton State University, and my major was Communications – Journalism & Broadcasting
Part of that major is why I feel drawn to social media.
I started my Bookstagram in 2024 because I wanted to connect with other people that loved to read.
I have a large collection of books. I am not sure the amount, but it must be in the 300’s (or maybe even 400’s at this point if we include the ebooks I have purchased.)
Since starting my Bookstagram, I have found so many people that I can connect with and talk to about my recent reads.
I have been given the opportunity to connect with so many indie authors, and I love to support their work.
One of my favorite parts about being on Bookstagram is coming up with new content ideas to post. It is honestly a creative outlet for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, my Bookstagram has evolved over the past few years. I have gone through creative or reading blocks and sometimes would not know what to post or would doubt my creative skills.
However, as time has gone by, I have become more confident in myself and have increased my design skills. I think if you saw my posts from when I first started, you would be shocked because my style was so different back then.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My bookstagram is a fun hobby that offers me a creative outlet.
I specifically talk about romance, romantasy, thriller, dystopian, etc. I will pretty much talk about any kind of book, but romance is my main topic.
I think every person doing social media has their own style, and I have tried to focus on a more natural look for my account. Though, I have started experimenting with graphics, especially for my book reviews.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe a big thank you to my family for all of the support they give me through this journey. They cheer me on, and get excited when I pass a milestone.
I also owe a thank you to all of the professors at Tarleton State University for helping me learn about journalism and how to use photo/video editing software.
Author S. R. Hartley has also given me an amazing opportunity to be on her Street Team. She recently came out with a book called Claimed By Darkness, and through promoting that book, I have connected with so many people.
