Today we’d like to introduce you to David Crawford III.
Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in June of 2023, I was forced out of work due to my gallbladder being removed. Around the same time, one of my close friends from High School, Assad, or as our fans know as $peedyyy, moved back to Houston, and he had his own studio set up & equipment as he had just graduated college with a music degree. I never had aspirations to rap, previously I had made a song with my friends that went to UNT on bandlab but it was just for entertainment. My brother had been rapping my whole life as I played the background mostly, uploading songs planning videos etc, but one day me and $peedyyy was just fooling around on the mic and I made my first real song. All my friends and family loved it and motivated me to keep going, and before you know it a month had passed and I had 15 completed songs in my files. Being out of work, I had so much time to fully engross on my craft, learning new flows, new cadences, and by the end of July, I made the decision to drop my first 12 song project. I know most people choose to drop a song to start, but I felt so confident in the work I had done during the summer that I went all out. The response I got from my social media followers, friends & family, co-workers etc, was shocking, everyone loved it. The immense support I received sparked a flame in me to make the most out of this new found skill, and by the end of 2023 I had 3 mixtapes and 8 singles on my catalog. In December of 2023, I dropped my first 100k stream song, the Concrete Cypher Freestyle, and my career intensified ever since. I’ve found and earned a leadership position in a new career off of music, as one of my first videographers, Nino, introduced me to the Stagehand/AV industry back in 2023 as well, and now I’m officially a supervisor and full time travel Stagehand/AV Tech. In the industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work for the Super Bowl, WWE, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and most of biggest artists and acts in the world. As of 2026, I can gladly say I have 1 million+ streams, 11 Albums /Mixtapes, and a plethora of singles and eps. I’ve been blessed to have been played on the radio, work with some of my favorite artists, learn how to engineer, mix & master, and spreading my art around the world in my own way. From the darkest time of my life, I was able to reinvent myself as not only an artist, but staple in the Stagehand & AV industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, I’ve been homeless living in hotel to hotel, broke and out of work indefinitely, catalog strikes and releases being taken, producers recanting on deals, the whole nine yards, but my biggest struggle was definitely losing my father this past year. The only difference between my struggle and most people’s, is that I embraced them all and let it motivate me to continue going, I never let a hardship or roadblock discourage me. My father always taught me when you take a wrong turn on a GPS, it’s doesn’t just quit, it reroutes and find a different path to your destination, and that’s the same way I live my life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hip hop artist, I specialize at writing and performing hip hop & rap songs. I’ve been told, and I consider myself as a lyricist, I specialize in leaving my fans pondering on my bars and lyrics, really focusing on being intricate and layered to keep the consistency I’ve started with my releases. I grew up listening to the Lil Wayne’s, the Drakes, the Nas’, and in my older days I caught on to artist like J1hunnit and Akeem Ali, and with my hard work and dedication I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of my favorite artist. In the last year, I am most proud of hitting the 1 million stream threshold in my career. In addition to that, I’m also proud in my progress as I’ve learned to engineer and mix & master my own music. What sets me apart from my fellow upcoming artists is my wordplay, my choice in production, and the fact I can basically manufacture a song single handily, as the only thing I don’t know how to do is make beats yet, but that’s soon to come as well. As far as my wordplay, in my opinion I don’t see another artist of my age and caliber doing it like me, the impact of the bars, the structure and cadences of my verses, in my opinion it’s unmatched.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love collaborating and working with others !
