Today we’d like to introduce you to Abiola.
Hi Abiola, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I will say for me being a Compere is an innate talent! I was born to do this but I didn’t just stop there, I have mastered the art of hosting events on various levels.
I started from hosting every church event, student union events, fellowship and friends events. I was the go to person to “emcee” every event!
I moved to the United States and a couple years later my nephew was born, my brother asked me to emcee the baby shower and people got my contact after that event (it was my first time emceeing a baby shower). From that event I got my next booking and knew from then I wanted to take it more seriously and I did.
Right now, my business is more structured, we are registered and we are getting better to the glory of God.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like anything in life, it was a bit bumpy but we are thankful.
It was tough relocating to Dallas in 2024 because we had to start afresh. The community already had their trusted vendors to give jobs to, but the bible says in Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before mean men”.
Those obstacles were first a learning ground, now it is a plain.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would love to tell you about my business as it is my 24/7 not my 9-5.
I am a Professional Master of Ceremonies and a Certified Wedding Officiant.
This is what I do and what I specialize in, it is what I am known for.
I am proud of how much I have achieved within a short period of time. Within a year of moving to Dallas, I have anchored over seventy events from international weddings, to local weddings, birthdays, corporate events e.t.c.
What sets me apart from others is my adaptability skills, the hunger for knowledge and sheer desire to be excellent at my craft.
Most people just like me, already have the ability to engage people and speak but to be a Master of Ceremonies goes beyond that. I read books, I read people and I take classes. I take my business very seriously and I know that sets me apart.
When people experience me from the initial consultation, to putting down a retainer, and then to the event execution, they can testify it is seamless and the best experience.
I take a continuous care approach to client retention by keeping up to date with my clients’ milestones. A large number of bookings eventually comes in from referrals or when people experience me from another event.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The industry as a whole will definitely be diluted with different kinds of people (trained and untrained).
However, I believe in the next 5-10 years there will be a shift in such a way where once clients want THE BEETALKS EXPERIENCE, it does not have to be me.
This brand will house other professionals and blossom well.
I am really excited for the future and what it holds.
