Inspiring Conversations with Tina Bhakta of The Hot Spot Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Bhakta.

Hi Tina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tina Bhakta, and I am the proud owner of The Hot Spot Studio Corpus Christi—a creative space designed to inspire connection, creativity, and mindful experiences for individuals and families in our community.

My professional journey began in accounting and business administration, where I developed a strong foundation in structure, strategy, and operations. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across multiple industries, including with a shipping agency, a management company, and as an inventory analyst—experiences that strengthened my attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and operational insight.

But creativity has always been a part of who I am.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a textile designer. I was drawn to colors, patterns, and the beauty of creating something with my own hands. Today, that dream has come full circle. Through my studio, pottery has become my canvas—allowing me to bring colors, textures, and patterns to life in a way that reflects the artistry I’ve always loved. Every piece created here is an opportunity for someone to explore their own creativity, just like I once imagined.

Alongside my business journey, I’m also a certified yoga instructor. Wellness, mindfulness, and balance have played a significant role in my life, and I’ve been passionate about sharing that with others through yoga, breathwork, and meditation.

This studio represents the intersection of everything I believe in—creativity, wellness, and community. It’s more than just a place to create art. It’s a space where people can slow down, connect, express themselves, and simply enjoy the moment.

This is also deeply personal for me. As a mother, I wanted to build something meaningful—not just a business, but a legacy. A place that shows my daughter what’s possible when you follow your passion, work hard, and stay true to your values.

My goal is to create a welcoming environment where everyone—regardless of age or experience—feels inspired to create and connect. I’m proud to bring this vision to Corpus Christi and to be a part of this vibrant community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Personally, it has not been an easy journey. Life has been very eventful, and I’ve had to rebuild more than once.

I moved to the United States from another country and had to start from the ground up—learning a new system, building a career again, and finding my place. What might have taken a year in India took me nearly ten years here, simply because I was starting over in so many ways.

I was also blessed with a beautiful marriage, but life took an unexpected turn when my husband passed away from a brain tumor. That was one of the most difficult chapters of my life, and navigating both personal loss and responsibility changed me deeply.

But those challenges shaped me. They taught me resilience, patience, and strength in ways nothing else could. Every setback, every delay, every hardship prepared me for where I am today.

When I look at this business, I don’t just see a studio—I see a reflection of that journey. It represents perseverance, hope, and the belief that no matter how many times you have to start over, you can still build something meaningful.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time outdoors, playing in the mud and creating little toys with my hands. I loved making things out of leaves and plants, climbing trees, and letting my imagination run free. I also remember wandering around the village with friends, sometimes sneaking fruits from neighbors’ gardens—it was all part of a carefree and creative childhood.
