Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Contreras.
Hi Destiny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My hair journey began in 2017 as I started cosmetology school. Then followed by an apprenticeship with a salon based in flower mound for 2 years I then relocated back to Denton to start my own business behind the chair. I get to do what I love and manage all the hoops of being an owner.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning it was not easy, I had a to face hard challenges of life to get everything going for myself. I had just become a mother at the age of 16 and trying to get a career started while figuring out how to be the best mom I could be. Throughout the years there was always the thoughts of giving up but I knew I had loved ones that were depending on me as well as myself. Giving up wasn’t an option.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love to be able to make a guest feel beautiful the second they look in the mirror. I chose the name “authentic beauty” because I believe that is as women no matter how we look or feel we a true to ourselves and that’s the beautiful part. Our hair/nails and face is just an addition. We all have a unique way to make ourselves feel beautiful and that’s is what make it authentic. It’s real within our own hearts.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned that we are all truly different you have to approach every client with happiness respect and love. Even on the worst days. You have to set your feelings/life aside in order to make someone else feel good and beautiful.
