Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Muhammad Jr..
Hi Elijah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Being born and raised in DeSoto, Texas I began to develop a passion for sports at an early age. My dad signed me up for little league football at 4 years old and I continued to play throughout my high school years. As a senior at DeSoto High School I earned a full ride Division 1 scholarship to go play football at the University of Nevada. I always knew that whenever I was done playing football that I wanted to pursue a career in business; my experience as a former player allowed me to combine my passion for sports and my interest in business and that’s what led me to pursue my dream career as a Sports Agent.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Breaking into the sports industry is extremely challenging. It has not been a smooth road but I never expected it be. I found out early on in life that anything worth having in life is not going to come easy. This mindset allows me to take the time to appreciate the journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Certified NFL Sports Agent I wear a lot of different hats. I negotiate contracts, mentor my clients, I market them, I help their visions come into fruition and advocate for them in rooms that they are not in. I’m known for being the Player’s Agent, I’m able to relate to them because it wasn’t too long ago that I was in their shoes and going through similar experiences. I’m most proud of being able to continue to position my clients for success both on and off the field.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people do not know that I’m a huge movie connoisseur. I randomly quote my favorite movies in conversations and it’s always satisfying when the other person gets the reference.
