Hi Johnny & Kayla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

I’ve been passionate about cars my entire life. I spent about 10 years working in paint and body before stepping away to work in the oil field for four years. Eventually, I realized I needed a change and decided to pursue something that truly made me happy.
My wife, Kayla, played a big role in that decision. She asked me a simple but important question: What do you want to do that will make you happy? My answer was clear—I wanted to get back to working on cars. Together, we decided to start small and build a mobile detailing company from the ground up.
The idea was reinforced by a personal experience. Kayla once scheduled a surprise detail for my truck, but the service fell short. The detailer arrived late, needed to use my water, hose, and extension cord, and still charged $200. When I inspected the work, I found myself redoing areas that had been missed. That experience made it clear to me what kind of service I did not want to provide.
From day one, our goal has been to create a truly convenient and professional experience. We come fully equipped with our own water and power, making our service ideal for customers at work or living in apartments. All we ask for is access to the vehicle.
Kayla and I also built our website and social media platforms to be simple and user-friendly, allowing customers to book or reach out with ease. Our focus has always been on delivering a hassle-free, stress-free experience.
More importantly, we believe in quality over quantity. Throughout my life, I’ve worked in environments where I felt like just another number. That’s not how we do business. Every customer matters, and we treat each vehicle with the same level of care and attention we would our own.
If that means taking on fewer jobs, I’m okay with that. At the end of the day, what matters most is knowing the customer is happy—and being proud of the work we’ve done.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road—it’s definitely been a learning curve. Kayla and I both have management experience, which helped us avoid some common mistakes, but there’s a big difference between managing and building something from the ground up.
One of the biggest challenges early on was consistency—getting a steady flow of clients and learning how to market ourselves effectively. There were slow weeks where we had to stay patient and keep pushing, even when things felt uncertain. We also had to figure out pricing, time management, and how to deliver a high-quality service while still growing the business.
That said, we’ve been very fortunate. We’ve built a strong base of loyal clients, including several who have been with us since day one. That support has meant everything to us.
Every challenge has taught us something, and it’s helped us refine both our service and our approach to business. We’re still learning every day, but that’s part of the process of building something the right way.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I wouldn’t consider myself a big risk-taker, especially when it comes to major financial or life-changing decisions. I tend to be more calculated and prefer taking smaller, more controlled risks rather than jumping into something without a clear plan.
Kayla, on the other hand, is much more comfortable with taking bigger risks. Once she believes in something, she goes all in—and more often than not, it works out exactly the way she envisioned. That balance between us has been a big strength in our business.
For me, risk is about timing and preparation. I believe in understanding what you’re stepping into and making sure you’re ready for it. At the same time, I’ve learned that you can’t grow a business without stepping outside of your comfort zone.
One of the biggest risks we took was starting this business in the first place—especially coming from a more stable industry. But we approached it in a way that made sense for us: starting small, staying consistent, and building over time.
Our approach to risk is really about balance—being smart and calculated, while still being willing to take chances when the opportunity feels right.
