Life & Work with Sidra Thomas of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sidra Thomas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Savage Section Radio because I felt the need to become more than everything I’ve been through in life. I wanted to create something bigger than myself — a platform built on connection, culture, creativity, and positive energy.

My goal is to leave behind more than a brand — I want to leave behind motivation, opportunity, unity, and a blueprint for others to follow.

What started as a podcast eventually grew into a live radio and media experience focused on giving independent artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs a space to be heard, seen, and respected. I realized there were so many talented people across cities like Philadelphia, Jersey City, Baltimore, and New York who just needed an opportunity and genuine support without gatekeeping.

As SIID SAVAGE, my mission has always been bigger than interviews or music. It’s about bringing people together through authentic experiences and creating a positive outlet for creatives trying to find their voice. That’s where my mantra, “One City. One Voice. One Good Thing.” comes from.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge pushed me to grow stronger, think bigger, and continue building something meaningful for both myself and my community. Today, Savage Section Radio continues evolving into more than just media — it’s becoming a movement centered around unity, culture, and giving people a real platform to shine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was finding genuine people who truly believed in the vision and wanted to build something real together. In this industry, I’ve learned that not everyone who supports you publicly has good intentions behind the scenes.

There were times when I invested money, time, and energy into opportunities or rooms that I thought would help take me to the next level, only to realize I was being taken advantage of. I’ve experienced situations where support wasn’t genuine, business wasn’t handled correctly, and loyalty wasn’t returned the way I gave it.

At first, those experiences were disappointing, but over time they taught me valuable lessons about protecting my energy, moving smarter, and understanding that growth sometimes requires change and separation. Instead of letting those situations stop me, I learned how to adapt, stay focused, and continue building despite setbacks.

Those obstacles made me stronger, more aware, and more intentional about the people and opportunities I allow around me. Most importantly, they taught me how to keep pushing forward under pressure while staying true to myself and my vision.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As SIID SAVAGE, I’m a media personality, radio host, creative curator, and founder of Savage Section Radio — a platform focused on music, culture, live experiences, and community connection.

What started as a podcast evolved into a growing media platform that blends interviews, live mixes, performances, storytelling, and cultural conversations across cities like Philadelphia, Jersey City, Baltimore, and New York. I’m known for bringing authenticity, energy, and real connection into every space I create.

Even though Savage Section Radio carries the word “radio,” it’s deeper than traditional radio to me — it reflects the “radio savage” way I’m uniquely designed: creative, expressive, fearless, and community-driven.

What I’m most proud of is not giving up. No matter what setbacks or disappointments I’ve faced, I always find my way back to the vision. I may take breaks to reset, but I never stop. There’s a burning desire in me to continue building something meaningful for both myself and the people connected to the culture.

What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about creating opportunities and experiences where people feel seen, heard, and valued. My mission has always been bigger than media — it’s about unity, culture, and connection through the message: “One City. One Voice. One Good Thing.”

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can support and collaborate with me by connecting through Savage Section Radio and genuinely believing in the vision of creating positive, culture-driven experiences and opportunities for creatives.

I’m always open to working with artists, DJs, entrepreneurs, brands, event coordinators, content creators, and other media platforms that align with authenticity, creativity, and community. Whether it’s interviews, live events, hosting, partnerships, promotional opportunities, or creative collaborations, I enjoy building experiences that bring people together and help others grow.

Support can be as simple as sharing content, tuning into the platform, attending events, collaborating creatively, or helping expand the message of “One City. One Voice. One Good Thing.” Every genuine connection and opportunity helps continue building the movement.
