Daily Inspiration: Meet Michael Zamora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Zamora.

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started playing guitar when I was 15. I got my first guitar when I was 11 but I quit because my hands were too small and I was more interested in baseball. I almost immediately started writing my own songs but it wasn’t until I was 18 that I felt like my songs were good enough to show people. After my first year in college in 2013, I started Posival and by 2016 we released 3 demo albums before I ended the project, not starting it again until 2019. Clint joined the band in 2019 and has been with the band ever since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a very difficult time doing this band at certain times. Clint knows better than anyone but I almost stopped doing the project several times even after he joined the band. In 2016 I didn’t think I’d ever do it again but I suppose songwriting is just my gift in my own way. Even if it doesn’t make sense or I am exhausted by life, I tend to just always end up writing some kind of song.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I play guitar and sing in Posival, but I also recorded drums for the band’s most recent releases since we didn’t have a drummer for a while. I guess what I’m most proud of is being able to manage my life and continue this artistic thing for so long now. I don’t really care about awards or anything like that but I think my own mind was my own worst enemy for a long time and the fact that I’m still doing it and have some of my best friends in the band with me with Clint and Daniel is honestly more than I could ask for.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I grew up in Fort Worth, but I was born in Arlington, lived in San Antonio until I was 6, and lived in Irving all through high school, Denton in college, lived in Austin for about 8 months, and now I’ve settled in Dallas. It feels like I’ve been all over Texas so if this music thing ever was to take off, I think it would be interesting to see what city would try to make claim as my hometown lol.
