Daily Inspiration: Meet Jade Summers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Summers.

Hi Jade, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In brief, I began in the Dallas drag scene in 2011, winning Miss Gay Texas State, which opened doors to performing at iconic venues under legends like Erica Andrews and Krystal Summers. Krystal became my drag mother, and from there, I became part of the Dallas drag staple—later being welcomed by Asia O’Hara into the Edna’s Angels cast at JR’s, which made me feel like true Dallas royalty. Along the way, I stepped into acting, landing roles in independent films thanks to guidance from my mentors. Now, I continue to thrive as both a performer and actress, always chasing the next creative chapter!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, honey, smooth roads are for highways, not journeys worth telling! It hasn’t always been easy. Living in Carthage meant driving three hours one way for bookings, and sometimes the pay or tips weren’t glamorous. But the experience, my drag family, and my Dallas sisters made it worth it. In entertainment, you’ll face backstabbing or sabotage—but I believe what’s done in the dark comes to light. When I started, I was young, covering costs myself, and couldn’t always afford the flashiest costumes. But one thing I had was my natural talent and bubbly personality—and that’s what helped me overcome every obstacle.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a showgirl at heart. I used to perform full-time, from Dallas to Longview and Shreveport, and now I balance my weekends on stage with my passion for hair. After COVID, I leaned into my craft as a hairdresser, but my proudest achievement is stepping into film as an actress—it’s the dream I always had. I specialize in celebrity illusions in drag, and in film, I love comedy—I’ve got a natural funny bone! What sets me apart is my personality and honesty. I’m always real with myself and others—and that shines brighter than anything else!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I believe is most important to my success is authenticity. Whether on stage, behind the chair, or in front of a camera. I show up as my genuine self. That honesty—my personality, my humor, my talent—resonates with people. It’s magnetic. When others experience my genuine personality, talent, and humor, that’s what sets me apart. Authenticity draws others in and allows me to shine in every arena. Authenticity is my superpower!
