Today we’d like to introduce you to Simona Sferle.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a little girl I watched my dad make something out of nothing, more so out of necessity.
My background is in prevention.
I remember laying out and closing my eyes and the idea came to me that something that would stick on the eyes that would block the strong glare from the sun would be very beneficial without wearing the sunglasses that would leave large marks around eyes.
In my mind I knew these patches/shields could be used across the different industries——optometry, hospitals and tanning wellness. I had absolutely no idea on how I would do this.
I then went to my computer and started to search if there was anything like that on the market. I searched for days to make sure and then filed my first patent.
As I was surrounded by littles, any opportunity I had I studied and tried to learn about entrepreneurship.
Spent money at fabric stores trying to create the ultimate product.
Finding the manufacturer to create what I wanted was nearly impossible at the price point that I needed. Without going out of USA.
I was informed that my eyewear would never be suited for the wellness tanning industry because they were black out.
That’s all I needed and I set out to make them FDA compliant for the industry to broaden my scope. I thought surely this will be the easiest industry to grow in and then expand. Definitely learned that this would not the case.
Attended trade shows across the differing industries professionals came and expressed what an amazing product we have.
It has been a journey and are very excited to bring it to masses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Manufacturing in USA, almost impossible with costs.
