Meet Mila Bazalar of Carnaval Insurance Agency / MilafindsDallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mila Bazalar.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I came to the U.S. in 2003 with my young daughter, and after 14 years of marriage, I had to start all over again. As part of my divorce, I kept the insurance agency, and from that moment on, everything changed. I had to rebuild my confidence after being told I wasn’t smart enough to succeed but I kept going.
I’ve always loved anything related to art, especially photography, and that naturally led me into content creation. Today, in addition to running my insurance agency, I create content that reflects my real life as I discover new places, building our new home with my partner, and simply enjoying the journey at 55. I share it all in both English and Spanish, hoping to inspire others who are also starting over.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t easy, especially because my two daughters were in the middle of everything. I had to learn things I had never handled before from doing taxes to managing bills and finances on my own. During my marriage, I was never involved in that side of life, so stepping into it after my divorce was overwhelming and frustrating at times.

At the same time, my daughters became my biggest motivation to keep going and rebuild our lives together. Today, seeing them succeed makes me incredibly proud. My oldest daughter studied computer science and now works for Hudl, and my youngest recently graduated from nursing school. Watching them grow into strong, independent women reminds me that all the difficult moments were worth it.

Learning how to manage both my business and my personal finances was one of the biggest challenges. But through that process, I grew stronger and proved to myself that I was capable of much more than I had been told.

Within two years of my divorce, I was able to purchase a home, which became one of my biggest investments. Today, that home is rented, and I’m building a new one. Looking back at everything I’ve accomplished, it truly helped me realize that I am a smart and strong woman.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the insurance industry for many years through my business, Carnaval Insurance Agency LLC, where I’ve built long-term relationships with clients—many of them for over 15 years. After my divorce in 2018, I took full control of the business and made major changes, transitioning from a physical office to a more virtual, technology-driven model.

What I focus on today goes beyond just selling insurance. I work closely with my clients most of whom are Spanish speaking to educate them and help them truly understand how insurance works. Coming from countries where insurance isn’t always a priority, many people only look for the cheapest option. I try to guide them to make informed decisions and understand the value of proper coverage, which isn’t always easy, but it’s something I like to do.

At the same time, I’ve recently started a new chapter as a content creator. I began taking it more seriously in November of last year, learning, experimenting, and growing along the way. I’m part of the Dallas Creators Club, where I connect with other creators, share ideas, and continue developing this new path. Through my content, I share my real life, my work, my experiences, and my journey. Which allows me to connect with people in a more authentic way.

Both my business and my content reflect who I am: someone who believes in growth, education, and helping others while continuing to grow and challenge myself.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success means having control of my time and being able to enjoy life with my family and my husband. Of course, hard work is what gets you where you want to be, and I truly believe in that. But now, at 55, I value something different.

I appreciate having the time to enjoy the simple moments like a good coffee, art, photography, music, good food, motorcycle rides and meaningful conversations. I also value having the space to think about new projects that keep me inspired and feeling alive.

To me, success is not just about achievements, but about creating a life where I can truly enjoy what I’ve built.
