Today we’d like to introduce you to Milesha Nnebuogo Segun, Esq..
Hi Milesha Nnebuogo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been shaped by faith, healing, legacy, and purpose. I attended Howard University for undergrad and later earned my law degree from Texas Southern University. Today, I practice law across multiple states in personal injury, estate planning, business law, and advocacy, helping people navigate some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives with compassion and care.
I’m also deeply passionate about creativity and ministry. I sing, write, and compose music, lead women in ministry through my small group, and use storytelling, worship, and faith to encourage healing and transformation in others. Creativity has always been one of the ways I connect with God and people.
One of the most defining moments of my life was losing my mother just days before graduating from law school. She was my greatest encourager and constantly spoke life over my future before I could fully see it myself. Years later, I often look around and realize I am indeed living the prayers, promises, and visions she once shared with me.
My middle name, Nnebuogo, is an Igbo name meaning “a mother is a gift,” and that meaning carries deep significance in my life. I come from both an Igbo family and an African American family with roots connected to Igbo culture and heritage. The women before me, especially my mother and grandmother, prayed for me, poured into me, and passed down strength, faith, wisdom, and resilience. I now carry that torch forward for my own children and future generations.
I’m a mother of three, a beautiful daughter and beautiful twin boys. Motherhood has transformed my understanding of purpose, sacrifice, grace, and legacy. Through every challenge, healing season, and rebuilding moment, God has remained faithful. When I look at my life today, I truly feel like I’m living an answered prayer, and I hope my story reflects God’s grace, perseverance, healing, and the beauty of trusting Him through every season.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the greatest struggles I faced was losing my mother just days before graduating from law school. That season changed me deeply because I was grieving while also trying to step into a new chapter of my life and career. There were moments where I had to learn how to keep moving forward while carrying heartbreak, pressure, uncertainty, and responsibility all at the same time.
I’ve also had to navigate the challenges of balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, ministry, creativity, and law while still making space for my own healing and growth. There were seasons where I questioned myself, struggled with disappointment, or felt overwhelmed trying to carry so many roles well.
Another challenge was learning not to shrink myself. I’m someone with many passions, law, music, ministry, writing, leadership, and motherhood, and sometimes people expect you to fit neatly into one category. I had to become comfortable embracing every part of who God created me to be instead of feeling like I had to choose one version of myself to make others comfortable.
But through every struggle, God has been faithful. Looking back, I can honestly say the difficult seasons produced strength, deeper faith, resilience, compassion, and purpose in me. A lot of who I am today was built in seasons that didn’t feel easy at all.
