Exploring Life & Business with Michael Guenther of The Lighthouse Within

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Guenther.

Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I originally built my career in the corporate and marketing world, spending 10 years working in digital advertising and media buying. I understood strategy, psychology, and how to connect with people online, but I still felt like I was living only one side of myself. The intuitive side of me never stopped asking to be acknowledged.

Over time, people naturally began seeking me out for guidance. Friends, clients, and strangers would tell me that conversations with me brought them clarity or peace in a way they couldn’t explain. That eventually led me to fully step into intuitive work professionally.

Now I run my own business, The Lighthouse Within, where I work with clients around the world through intuitive energy readings and guidance sessions. My work is less about predicting the future and more about helping people reconnect with themselves, trust their intuition, and feel less alone during difficult seasons of life.

The most rewarding part of what I do is seeing someone visibly exhale by the end of a session — like they’ve finally stopped carrying something heavy by themselves. That’s what keeps me passionate about this work. My journey has taught me that clarity and healing often begin the moment someone truly feels seen.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. A lot of my challenges honestly started in childhood. I was adopted, homeschooled for much of my life, and raised in a very controlling environment where I often felt isolated and misunderstood. I grew up feeling emotionally different from the people around me and learned very early how to disconnect from myself just to survive certain environments.

As I got older, I carried a lot of that into adulthood — constantly trying to fit into spaces that didn’t actually align with who I was. On paper, my corporate marketing career looked successful, but internally I was deeply unhappy. I felt trapped in a life that looked right externally but felt completely wrong internally.

At the same time, I had this intuitive side of myself that I didn’t fully know how to embrace publicly yet. When I started offering readings through an app on the side, I never expected people to respond the way they did. Suddenly I was connecting deeply with strangers all over the world while privately struggling with burnout, depression, and feeling disconnected from my own life.

There was a point where I hit an emotional breaking point and cried out to God asking for my life to change because I truly didn’t know how much longer I could continue living the way I was. Shortly after that, the reading side of my life began growing rapidly.

Another major challenge was when the app I originally built my client base on completely disappeared. I had to quickly figure out how to build my own platform, website, audience, and business independently while navigating all the fear and uncertainty that came with it.

Looking back, though, I think those struggles shaped the way I work with people now. Because I know what it feels like to feel lost, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, and desperate for clarity, I approach my work with a lot of empathy and care.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Lighthouse Within is my intuitive guidance practice where I work with clients around the world through private energy readings, live sessions, and online content focused on clarity, emotional healing, and self-trust. My work helps people navigate uncertainty in areas like relationships, career, personal growth, grief, and major life transitions.

What makes my work different is that I approach intuition in a very grounded and human way. I’m less interested in creating dependency or mystifying people and more interested in helping them reconnect with themselves and feel emotionally supported during difficult moments. Many clients describe sessions as feeling deeply calming, validating, and surprisingly specific.

I originally built my audience through a psychic reading app where I became one of the top featured advisors before eventually creating my own independent platform and business. Since then, I’ve worked with thousands of clients and built a strong online community through social media, live readings, and my website.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the emotional impact of the work. People often come to me during some of the hardest moments of their lives feeling anxious, overwhelmed, heartbroken, or lost, and my goal is always to help them leave with a greater sense of peace, clarity, and hope.

The name “The Lighthouse Within” reflects the core philosophy behind everything I do — that people already carry wisdom and direction within themselves, and sometimes they just need help finding their way back to it.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Honestly, once I realized I was making more money doing readings than I was in corporate marketing, leaving corporate didn’t feel irrational anymore, it felt inevitable.

The bigger risk was allowing myself to publicly step into something that didn’t fit neatly into traditional expectations. I grew up in a very controlled environment where safety, approval, and fitting in mattered a lot, so building a career in intuitive work required me to unlearn a lot of fear around judgment and legitimacy.

When I first started offering readings through the app, it was never supposed to become a business. But very quickly I became one of the top featured advisors on the platform and built an incredibly loyal client base. The demand kept growing, and eventually I had to admit to myself that the thing I was doing on the side was not only financially outperforming my corporate career, but also making me feel more alive and fulfilled than anything else I had done professionally.

Then the app disappeared, which forced me to take another leap and build my own business independently from the ground up. Looking back, that probably ended up being one of the best things that could have happened because it pushed me to fully own my voice, brand, and platform instead of relying on someone else’s.
