Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Brown.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a high school teacher so I’m always looking for a side gig to help make ends meet. I enjoy sitting on patios with a good beer and reading so I figured why not make a business out of it. I’ve seen similar things in the area, however someone told me “you can replicate a business idea, but you can’t replicate the person behind it!” So I went for it and A Book Buzz was born!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the bumps had been the uncontrollables…like weather! You prep and plan months in advance so you have no idea what it will be like. We have had a few windy days but adjusting and being flexible is what this is all about!!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in customizing a book fair everyone will love. Careful consideration goes into which artist and vendors are chosen so there are not repeated genres or too much overlapping product. This ensures that everyone can be successful! I’m most proud of really the entirety of the book fair event. It takes a lot of behind the scenes hours to orchestrate the chaos and each month I’m just blown away by the products and display prepared for guests and shoppers!!
How do you define success?
Having goals, reaching them, and then setting more! Success is chasing a growth mindset whereas you can be happy for what you’ve accomplished while being hungry for the next step! Success isn’t a 1 time fixed outcome…it’s consistency towards something you’re proud of!
