Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Cobb.
Hi Alexander, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a DJ, curator, and content creator originally driven by a love for music, culture, and creating experiences that make people feel connected. What started as me putting playlists together and DJing for friends slowly turned into building spaces where people could genuinely enjoy music, community, and each other in real life.
Over time, I realized I wasn’t just interested in playing songs, I was interested in storytelling through experiences. That led me into content creation, event production, and eventually curating concepts centered around R&B, Black art, and culture. One of the biggest examples of that is my event series, The Place Where Lovers Go, which was created to bring people together around nostalgia, intimacy, and good music in a way that feels intentional and community-driven.
Alongside DJing, I’ve also worked in content production and creative marketing, producing digital content, building partnerships, and helping artists and brands create authentic experiences both online and offline. I’ve always tried to move with the mindset that culture is built through connection, not just consumption.
A lot of my journey has been about trusting unconventional paths, staying consistent, and creating opportunities instead of waiting for them. Whether it’s curating parties, producing content, interviewing creatives, or building platforms everything I do comes back to creating moments where people feel seen, inspired, and connected through music and culture.
Today, I’m continuing to grow as a creative entrepreneur while building experiences and media platforms that center community, storytelling, and Black creativity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what shaped me the most creatively and personally. A lot of my journey has been built without a traditional blueprint or major backing, so I’ve had to learn through experience, trial and error, and simply staying consistent even when things weren’t immediately paying off.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing creativity with sustainability. As an independent creative, you wear a lot of hats at once such as DJ, marketer, producer, promoter, strategist, and sometimes even therapist for the people around you. There were moments where I had the vision but not necessarily the resources, and I had to figure out how to build meaningful experiences with limited budgets while still making them feel impactful and intentional.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ, creative curator, and content producer who specializes in building experiences centered around music, storytelling, and culture, especially within music and Black creative spaces. My work lives at the intersection of nightlife, media, and community building. Whether I’m DJing a party, producing content, or curating conversations, the goal is always the same: to create spaces where people feel connected and present.
I’m probably best known for creating experiences that feel intentional and emotionally driven rather than just transactional nightlife events. One of the projects I’m most proud of is The Place Where Lovers Go, an R&B-centered party experience built around nostalgia, intimacy, and community. It started as an idea to create a space where people could genuinely enjoy music and connection without feeling pressured to perform for social media or trends. Seeing people resonate with that vision and build real memories through something I created has been incredibly rewarding.
I’m also proud of how I’ve been able to expand beyond DJing into content and creative production. Through my digital platforms, I’ve been able to highlight artists, conversations, food, music, and experiences in a way that feels authentic to the culture I come from and love.
What sets me apart is that I approach everything from a curator’s mindset instead of just an entertainer’s mindset. I pay attention to details, energy, storytelling, and how people feel in a space. I’m not interested in simply throwing parties or posting content for the sake of visibility. I care about creating moments that leave a lasting impression.
I also think my background in both live experiences and digital content gives me a unique perspective. I understand how to build community in person and online, and I try to bridge those worlds in a way that feels organic. At the core of everything I do is a genuine love for music, Black culture, and creating experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I recently moved to Dallas, and it’s felt like a real reset in my life and creative direction. Being in a new city has given me space to step back, reflect, and reconnect with why I started creating in the first place. There’s something about change in environment that forces you to grow, and for me, Dallas has represented a renewed sense of focus and intention
It’s also been inspiring to tap into a new creative ecosystem. Dallas has a growing culture scene, and being around new people, sounds, and spaces has reignited my excitement for curating experiences. It feels like a fresh chapter where I can bring everything I’ve learned so far and evolve it into something even more intentional and expansive
