Meet Jay Nostalgia of Nostalgia Headquarters/Magic Melanin Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Nostalgia.

Hi Jay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started when I was a kid watching BET, MTV, 106 & Park and reality tv with my mom. I was always a huge fan of pop culture and I knew I was going to be a star one day and also hang around other superstars. I just did not know exactly how or what I was going to be doing, which was most likely due to the fact that I have always been multi-talented and had so many interest so I could never just sit down and settle with doing one thing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
absolutely not… but thats okay. I may not have liked or enjoyed what I have been through but I know for a fact it has helped me grow and develop the tough skin that I need to make it throughout life. I think for me, I just do not think about it often because I do not like to harbor on what was done to me or what people have done to me. I just know that I made it through it, it did not stop me and nothing ever will. When I was 7 I was diagnosed as Type 1 Diabetic, I had a sibling who passed away when he was 7 years old, having to fight with be coming to terms that I was bisexual in an environment where kids only laughed at those type of people, being bullied in school and much more. Now I just laugh at all of it because it didn’t do anything but help me.

As you know, we’re big fans of Nostalgia Headquarters/Magic Melanin Media. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I like to think of Nostalgia Headquarters as a giant hub in space. Its where all memories, nostalgia and creativity are created/experimented with. It sits just right in the orbit of Planet Nostalgia which is where I live because Earth is NOT for me lol. I just come here to work sometimes because God told me to and you know I have to listen to my father.

Nostalgia Headquarters is my business where I provide photography and soon will also be providing creative direction and videography. I will also be doing my own events, films, short films, shows etc. Speaking of that, right before doing this interview I uploaded a video on my Youtube of nostalgic music from the late 90’s-early 2000’s. I remember Music Choice from when I was a kid so I created my own version of it on Youtube.

Magic Melanin Media is my network name which Nostalgia HQ (Headquarters) is the production company which are both owned and operated by me.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think most people are usually surprised on my knowledge of pop culture. There are times where I know things that I don’t even remember learning lol. Whether its about tv shows, movies or music that people usually feel that others around them do not know about, I usually do. I also am always able to teach people more behind the scenes information about scandals, events or headlines because I like to do my research instead of learning about the surface level information.
