Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Russell.
Hi Dana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was working long hours in front of a computer in the aerospace industry and developed a terrible pain in my traps that was not responding to massage or pain medication. Then a friend recommended cupping. 18 years ago I couldn’t find a therapist so I just bought some cups and placed on the knots and much to my surprise the pain completely subsided and did not immediately return. I knew then that I must learn more about this magical therapy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started in the wellness space with a deep interest in how the body heals itself when it’s properly supported rather than forced. Early on, I was drawn to hands-on work because I could see how quickly people’s pain, mobility, and overall wellbeing could shift with the right kind of care. I started part time and maintained my full time job until I finally took the leap and began my practice full time. It was a struggle back then because most people had never heard of cupping therapy
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Over time, I focused my practice and developed a specialty in neuromuscular cupping therapy, blending traditional cupping techniques with a more targeted, clinical approach to fascia release, lymphatic support, and chronic tension patterns. As I worked with more clients—especially those dealing with long-term pain, inflammation, or limited range of motion—I kept refining my methods based on real results I was seeing in the treatment room.
Cryotherapy became a natural extension of that work. I saw how powerful it was in reducing inflammation and accelerating recovery, so I integrated it into my sessions to create a more complete therapeutic experience—addressing both soft tissue restriction and systemic inflammation in one approach.
Today, I run my own practice in North Dallas where I specialize in combining these modalities to help people recover faster, move better, and feel more at home in their bodies. I’ve built my work around results-driven care, ongoing education, and a very individualized approach for every client I see.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is defined by the impact I’m able to create in people’s lives and how consistently I can help them feel better in their bodies.
It’s not just about outcomes in a single session—it’s seeing long-term change: someone moving without pain again, having more energy, or finally feeling relief after struggling for years. If my work improves someone’s quality of life in a meaningful way, that’s success.
On a personal level, success also means continuing to grow in my craft, staying aligned with my purpose, and building a practice that allows me to serve more people while maintaining a high standard of care and integrity in what I do.
