Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrone Betters.
Hi Tyrone, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Yes I can, I got my start in undergrad as a model. It helped build my foundation and was truly my first passion. A mentor of mine suggested getting into commercials. I was reluctant at first, but I got into an Introductory Commercial Class with KD Studio in 2012 and that was all I needed.
14 years later I have been a principle in over 40+ commercials & had the opportunity to be a part of some phenomenal projects along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NOT AT ALL. Quiet frankly this journey has brought a mix of rough hills & smooth trails. The no’s, the rejections, the questioning if this was for me, were indeed loud. But my God was louder and it just been a part of my story. Collectively I have 18 years experience in the entertainment (Talent) Field and I have been able to remain a student and evolve the whole time. That is my superpower. Adapting & navigating the lay of the land to be successful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor, a model, a businessman! A good mixture of a lot of things. My passion for the craft drives me and has guided me to follow my purpose and attach myself to projects that feeds my artistry. I’m proud of the fact that I am not for sale and will not just put my name on anything for the sake of doing it. Everything is intentional & with purpose. What is for me will always find me.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Fall in love with the art & the craft before ever looking for compensation. I played every role in the process. From background, to stand-in, to day player. I have been able to learn & evolve by following the passion, way before I ever thought about the pay. Get so good that they have no choice but to pay you for your services.
