Meet Catriona MCCARTHY of Bullard McCarthy Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catriona MCCARTHY.

Catriona, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up on a small farm in County Tipperary, Ireland, where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and the importance of home. Life on the farm instilled in me a strong work ethic and a grounded perspective that continue to shape both my personal life and my career. I remain incredibly close to my family in Ireland and make it a priority to return a few times each year to spend time with my parents, siblings, nieces, nephew, and lifelong friends. No matter where life has taken me, those roots and relationships have always kept me grounded and continue to shape who I am today.

After graduating from Dublin City University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, I set off to explore the world. Over the following years I traveled extensively through India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia on a shoestring budget, often living on as little as five dollars a day. I embraced a simple, holistic lifestyle and immersed myself fully in the cultures, people, and experiences each country had to offer.

I spent six months living in India, where I gained an unexpected but invaluable education in negotiation. In local markets, almost every purchase involved friendly bargaining—sometimes even buying a single banana could turn into a three-minute negotiation. It was a fun and memorable experience that sharpened skills I still rely on today when advocating for my clients.

My travels eventually led me to Perth, Australia where I lived for five years and worked for an industrial relations company. Those years abroad broadened my perspective, strengthened my independence, and deepened my appreciation for the many ways people create a sense of home and community around the world.

In 2007, I moved to Dallas for what was intended to be a six-month working holiday. I quickly fell in love with the city’s vibrant energy, welcoming people, and unmistakable Southern hospitality. What was meant to be a short adventure became my permanent home. As a child, I had an Aunt Sheila living in Dallas, and my cousins—who were close to me in age—would return to Ireland each summer with stories about life in Texas. Their visits sparked a dream of one day seeing Dallas for myself, and nearly two decades later, I still feel incredibly fortunate that what began as a childhood dream has become the place I am proud to call home.

I settled in Lake Highlands immediately and have been there every since! I now feel like an East Dallas native after 19 years of calling it home. Buying my first home sparked my passion for real estate. The experience deepened my appreciation for what “home” truly means and inspired me to pursue a career helping others find that same sense of belonging.

I got my Real Estate license in 2014 and hit the ground running! Since then, I have helped hundreds of families buy and sell homes throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Based in East Dallas, I have been honored to be recognized as a Top Selling Agent by the Lake Highlands Advocate, Real Producers Magazine, D Magazine and consistently rank in the top agents in my Brokerage Dave Perry-Miller.

Whether I am helping a first-time buyer, assisting a family in selling a cherished home, or guiding someone relocating to Dallas, my goal is to make the process as smooth, informed, and stress-free as possible.

From a farm in Tipperary to the markets of India, the beaches of Australia, and the neighborhoods of Dallas, my journey has been shaped by hard work, adventure, and a genuine passion for helping people find a place to call home.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was building a successful business from the ground up in a new country, far from the family and lifelong network I had in Tipperary. When I moved to Dallas, I had to start over professionally and personally, earning trust and establishing relationships one client at a time.

Real estate can be demanding and unpredictable, but my upbringing on a farm taught me perseverance, and my travels taught me adaptability and resilience. I am proud to have turned those experiences into a thriving business built almost entirely on referrals and repeat clients—the greatest testament to the trust my clients place in me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bullard McCarthy Group?
I am a Realtor based in East Dallas, helping buyers and sellers throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex navigate one of the most important financial decisions of their lives. Since becoming a licensed Realtor in 2014, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of families buy and sell homes, and I have been honored to be recognized as a Top Selling Agent by the Lake Highlands Advocate, Lakewood Advocate, D Magazine, Real Producers. My team is called Bullard McCarthy Team. And we are with the Dave Perry-Miller Brokerage.

My business is built on the belief that real estate is about much more than opening doors and showing houses. While finding the right home is certainly important, the true value I provide lies in guiding my clients toward sound investments, negotiating fiercely on their behalf, and ensuring that every transaction proceeds as smoothly and stress-free as possible. Whether I am helping a first-time buyer, marketing a cherished family home, or assisting someone relocating to Dallas, my goal is to provide thoughtful advice, clear communication, and unwavering advocacy from start to finish.

For buyers, I focus on helping clients not only find a home they love, but one they feel confident purchasing as a smart long-term investment. For sellers, I take a highly strategic and hands-on approach. I work closely with homeowners to prepare their property for the market through staging recommendations, professional photography, compelling marketing, and maximum online exposure designed to attract the broadest possible audience and achieve top dollar.

What sets me apart is a combination of hard work, strong marketing expertise, and a deeply personal commitment to my clients. Growing up on a farm in County Tipperary taught me the value of dedication and perseverance. My years traveling the world and negotiating in markets across Asia sharpened my ability to advocate effectively, and my background in marketing and sales gave me the tools to position homes in a way that stands out.

Above all, I am most proud of the relationships I have built and the trust my clients place in me. My brand is rooted in integrity, warmth, and a genuine desire to help people feel informed, supported, and excited throughout the process. I want readers to know that when they work with me, they are gaining not only a knowledgeable Realtor, but a dedicated partner who truly cares about helping them find a place to call home.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by the happiness and peace of mind my clients feel at the end of a transaction. For buyers, success is seeing them walk into a new home they are genuinely excited about and feel confident was a smart investment. For sellers, success means knowing they have maximized the value of what is often their most important financial asset.

My goal is to make the entire experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. I work hard behind the scenes to manage the countless details, solve problems, and shield my clients from much of the uncertainty and pressure that can come with buying or selling a home, allowing them to focus on the excitement of reaching the finish line.

The greatest measure of success for me is when a client says, “I’ve already told my sister, friend, or colleague about you—I hope you can help them too.” There is no higher compliment than the trust of a happy client who is eager to refer the people they care about most.
