Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Grandell, BSc, FMCHC, CLT.
Hi Gabrielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into health and wellness really began with curiosity and frustration. I was always fascinated by the beauty and complexity of nature and the way food is available in so many vibrant colors, textures, and forms. And how something so natural could have such a profound impact on the human body. That passion led me to study nutrition and become a Dietitian, but once I started working in more conventional healthcare settings, I realized something was missing. I saw so many people being treated with a one-size-fits-all approach, focused more on symptom management than truly understanding why people were sick in the first place.
That experience pushed me to dig deeper into functional medicine and holistic healing in 2012. I became passionate about identifying root causes instead of masking symptoms, especially when it came to digestive health, autoimmune conditions, fatigue, skin issues, hormone imbalances, and the deep connection between the gut and overall well-being. I saw firsthand how the gut impacts not only physical health, but mood, energy, confidence, and even a person’s sense of purpose and connection to themselves.
In 2020, right before the world changed dramatically, I took a leap of faith and started my own practice. Building a business during such uncertain times required perseverance, trust, and a strong belief in my mission, but it also confirmed for me how deeply people were craving a more personalized and empowering approach to health. Over time, my work evolved into now being known as “The Gut Goddess” which is my brand and philosophy that bridges science and spirituality, helping people heal from the inside out.
Today, I work with clients struggling with chronic digestive issues, inflammation, fatigue, skin conditions, and autoimmune concerns, guiding them through a holistic process that combines functional nutrition, lifestyle medicine, mindset, and deeper healing practices. My goal is not just to help people feel better physically, but to help them reconnect to their vitality, confidence, and highest potential. I truly believe our bodies are designed to heal when given the right support, and I feel grateful every day that I get to walk alongside people in that transformation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but honestly, those challenges shaped both me and my business into what they are today. One of the biggest struggles was realizing that the traditional healthcare model often wasn’t designed to truly help people heal long term. Early in my career, I felt limited by systems that focused heavily on medications and symptom management rather than bioindividuality, prevention, nutrition, and root-cause healing. That disconnect was difficult because I knew people deserved deeper answers and more personalized care.
Starting my own practice in 2020 also came with its own challenges. Launching a business right before the world turned upside down required a lot of faith, resilience, and adaptability. There were moments of uncertainty, financial pressure, long hours, and learning how to wear every hat at once — practitioner, educator, marketer, business owner, and leader. Building something that goes against mainstream approaches means having to earn trust slowly and educate people on why healing naturally takes time and commitment.
On a personal level, witnessing people I love struggle with health challenges has also deeply impacted me. My father’s battles with addiction and mental health and my mom’s colon cancer diagnosis especially reinforced why I do this work and made my mission even more personal. Experiences like those remind me how important prevention, nutrition, gut health, and early intervention truly are.
I think another challenge has been helping people understand that healing is not linear or “one size fits all.” In today’s world, people often want quick fixes, but true healing requires patience, mindset shifts, consistency, and addressing the emotional and spiritual components of health alongside the physical body. Part of my journey has been learning how to guide myself and people through that process with both compassion and honesty.
Looking back, though, every struggle continues to push me deeper into my purpose. It strengthened my belief that we need a more integrative, empowering, and human-centered approach to wellness. One that helps people reconnect not just to health, but to themselves and to the divinity within.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Functional Nutritionist, Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and Certified LEAP Therapist specializing in digestive health, gut disorders, and autoimmune conditions. I work with clients who are often dealing with chronic, frustrating symptoms like bloating, IBS, constipation, IBD, diarrhea, gas, reflux, fatigue, skin issues, hormone imbalances, and weight resistance. People who have usually tried multiple approaches without lasting relief. My role is to help them finally understand the why behind their symptoms and guide them through a root-cause healing process that is personalized, science-backed, and deeply holistic.
What sets my work apart is that I don’t just look at digestion in isolation, I look at the whole person. I integrate functional lab testing, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, nervous system support, mindset work, and spiritual alignment when appropriate. I truly believe the gut is not just a digestive organ, but a central hub connected to mood, energy, immunity, hormones, and even a person’s sense of self. So, my work often becomes a full mind-body transformation, not just a dietary protocol.
My philosophy represents healing that is both grounded in science and elevated through intuition, embodiment, and self-connection. It’s about helping people not only heal their gut, but also reconnect to their vitality, confidence, and inner sense of power. I offer individualized protocols, run group programs and workshops, interpret lab testing, speak for retreats and companies, and guide clients through structured healing plans over time. My approach is not quick fixes. I typically work with clients over several months because true gut health takes consistency, patience, and support as the body shifts and rebuilds.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that I’ve created a space where science and spirituality are not separate. I’ve built a practice where people feel seen as whole humans, and not just a set of symptoms or lab values, and where healing feels empowering rather than overwhelming. Many of my clients come to me feeling discouraged or dismissed, and they leave with clarity, hope, and a deeper trust in their body.
Ultimately, my mission is to help people restore their gut health so they can restore their life. I empower them to build up their energy, their confidence, their relationship with food, and their ability to feel at home in their body again.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as feeling aligned — in my work, my health, my relationships, and my purpose, rather than chasing external milestones alone.
For me, success is when my clients experience real, lasting transformation: when someone who once felt dismissed, uncomfortable in their body, or frustrated with their health finally starts to feel energy again, trust their body again, and understand what it actually needs to thrive. If someone can go from surviving their symptoms to truly living in their body with confidence and ease, that feels like success to me.
On a personal level, success is also about integrity and impact. It’s building a business that stays true to my values of root-cause healing, individuality, and bridging science with a deeper sense of meaning and connection. It’s being able to do work that feels purposeful and aligned with my calling and gifts and includes space for rest, creativity, spiritual growth, and being present in my own life while still serving others at a high level.
