Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Lambert.
Hi Julian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born into a very creative family. My grandfather was a painter, as well as my grandmother, and my father is an all around creative that dabbles in about everything. My mother had gained interest in photography when I was younger and I would always ask to take photos with her camera. I thought that it could be another medium for me to express myself. It wasn’t until I was a sophomore in high school where I really thought I could somehow find a way to make this my job. Fast forward I went to college down in Austin where I studied photography and ended up dropping out after my freshmen year. After that I really just learned everything by myself and I ended up meeting really good friends in the industry who I have had the pleasure of working with.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Some of the struggles that I’ve had along the way has been sustainability, and the terrible inner critic.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a portrait photographer that works in the field of editorial and commercial.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
That’s a tough question to answer because I have lots, but to choose one I’d say getting birthday cards from my late grandfather. Since he painted all of the time, he would draw these cartoonish characters on the envelope and cards and I would always look forward to those.
