Meet Alejandra Abundis Rodriguez of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Abundis Rodriguez.

Hi Alejandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband Fidel and I started collecting cacti as a hobby quickly turned into a passion for creating our own handmade concrete pots and unique plant arrangements. As our collection kept growing, friends and family began encouraging us to turn it into a business because our pieces were already filling our home and catching everyone’s attention. Seeing how much people loved our creations inspired us to officially start sharing them with others and grow what is now our small business called Corazon Verde.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a wonderful journey starting this small business. Like any new adventure, it has come with challenges, learning experiences, and a lot of hard work, but it has all been worth it. Being able to grow something together, connect with our community, and share something we truly love has made the experience incredibly rewarding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My husband works full-time as a service manager at Texas Truck A/C while also helping grow our small business every chance he gets. And I help promote our business, create content, run my days at the store, manage orders, and package shipments since we also sell through ebay. Balancing family life, work, and our business can be busy at times, but building something together has made the journey incredibly rewarding.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of the biggest risks of starting our business was investing our time, money, and creativity into something that started from a simple hobby. Since we both balance family responsibilities, full-time work, and the business, there were moments of uncertainty about whether everything would work out. But taking that risk allowed us to grow, meet amazing people, and turn something we truly love into a rewarding small business.
