Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Molett.
Hi Alice, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in humble circumstances, which taught me the value of hard work, faith, and perseverance from an early age.
At just 12 years old, I discovered a passion for hairstyling. By the age of 16, I had taught myself how to do hair and was serving clients from my bedroom. Even then, I knew I wanted to help people feel confident and create something beautiful.
I attended The University of Texas at Dallas, where I initially pursued a traditional academic path. However, after my second year, I recognized that my true passion was in cosmetology and entrepreneurship. I made the decision to fully pursue that calling.
That passion led me to launch AFCouture Hair Salon & Boutique, a brand centered around the belief that healthy hair and beauty can empower people from the inside out. Building my business from the ground up has taught me entrepreneurship, leadership, customer service, and resilience. More importantly, it has shown me the importance of creating an experience where people feel seen, valued, and confident.
Entrepreneurship has also been a deeply spiritual journey for me. Through it, I grew closer to God and gained a stronger sense of purpose. I serve in the Worldwide Apostolic Episcopal Council of Churches under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Sharon Renae, who has been a tremendous mentor in both ministry and business.
I am honored to serve as the U.S. Overseer and have traveled internationally to countries including Ghana, Liberia, Togo, and Kenya, helping pastors and church leaders develop and implement their vision.
In addition to my salon business, along side Apostle Dr. Sharon Renae I am launching Gold Coast Cargo Inc., a logistics company focused on shipping goods between the United States and West Africa. I also enjoy helping other entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses.
My journey has always been driven by a desire to serve others—through beauty, business, and ministry. I am excited to continue growing as an entrepreneur and to use every opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up south Dallas projects and pleasant grove. I have to give credit where it’s due, my parents worked hard to give my siblings and I the best even when resources were limited, so I learned early how to be resourceful, disciplined, and determined from watching my parents.
When I started doing hair as a teenager, I had to teach myself, build my clientele from scratch, and balance my passion with the realities of everyday life.
A couple of my biggest challenges was stepping away from a traditional college path to pursue entrepreneurship. It was a difficult decision because there was no guaranteed roadmap to success. I didn’t have support from my friends and family like most did. My parents were certain that my success in life would come from a path through college. I had to trust my instincts, my faith, and my willingness to work hard.
I also faced my own fears and anxieties. A naturally shy and quiet person I had to push my self past my comfort zone and step out on faith. I relied on prayer and persistence when it came to building my clientele. I didn’t want fear to hold me back,
As a business owner, I have faced the typical challenges of entrepreneurship, including financial uncertainty, building a consistent client base, managing operations, and adapting to changing circumstances. There were seasons when growth was slow and moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path.
Balancing business ownership, ministry, international travel, and personal responsibilities has also required significant discipline and sacrifice.
What has carried me through every obstacle is my faith in God, perseverance, and a commitment to serving others. Each challenge strengthened my resilience, deepened my leadership skills, and reinforced my belief that obstacles are often opportunities for growth. Today, I see those struggles as an essential part of my journey and the foundation for the impact I hope to continue making.
