Conversations with Kristina Eden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Eden.

Hi Kristina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Dallas in the summer of 2019 from Fayetteville, Arkansas and was blown away by how much there was to do/eat/see here! We barely started exploring before the shut down in 2020 so when things began opening back up, I started venturing out as much as possible. At the same time, we had a lot of friends & family that were reaching out asking what we were up to and what our recommendations are for when they visit since it’s just a few hours away from my hometown.

I began posting just as a way to share our experiences with friends and it quickly grew to much more. I have a B.S. in public relations and communications and it felt like such an easy transition of those skills I learned to social media. We grew to love visiting not only the hot spots, but also the smaller mom & pops to help support them and spread the word around DFW + beyond!

Now we travel all over the metroplex to find the best spots to eat and have fun and it’s become much more than just sharing a few photos. I love connecting with both business owners and my audience to provide places that they love and hear the stories of how others got their start.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think some of the biggest challenges have just been finding time between my day job + personal life to visit each place and share my experiences. A lot of people think it’s not a ton of work to post on social media and while we may make it look glamorous, there is a lot of backend struggles of planning, editing, scheduling, answering DMs/emails and even just driving in DFW traffic! But I am so blessed to have the opportunities I have had which makes it all worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My socials are @thefoodiewithabootie_ and I am known for sharing some of the best places to eat + travel! I am so proud to provide exposure to small businesses that otherwise wouldn’t be known and support their successes. My creativity and fun finds set me apart from others that may just focus on larger chains or share a few clips of their experience. I’m happy to say I am always honest in my posts and do not share anything I don’t truly love or recommend.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think AI is going to become an even bigger part of the social media industry as it gives a lot of people more creative power than they currently have. However, I still think human-made content is what is going to get the most reach and positive feedback as people can truly connect with that more. Nothing beats real raw emotion!
