Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Spillers.
Hi Jana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as a bedside nurse and then sought continued education to become a nurse practitioner. My first pregnancy and breastfeeding experience pushed me to pursue training in lactation to better serve my patients. I also received certification as a car seat technician that expanded the education and services I was able to provide my patients’ families. After working in a busy county hospital for a decade, I went into primary care to serve patients in the community long term.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working 24 hour shifts while pregnant and raising babies stretched me unlike anything else has. I don’t think anyone in medicine would describe the road as “smooth” but mothers often face extraordinary challenges. There will always be patients who need my attention while I’m at home and my kids still need me when I’m at work.

Wonderfully Made is a truly holistic root cause practice. We offer integrative pediatric care, sick and well visits, complex care and second opinions, NICU follow up, lactation services, home visits, patient advocacy and new parent classes. Our specialty is resolution of complex and chronic pediatric conditions. I love all my patients but by favorite thing to do is support families after complex NICU stays or those with complex issues who have seen multiple providers before me. It gives me a chance to really use my western training in conjunction with alternative modalities. We are recognized for excellence in patient care by DFW Child yearly. These nominations are purely patient driven and this is the greatest compliment we could receive.
