Rising Stars: Meet CK Capil of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to CK Capil.

Hi CK, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Started learning how to play the guitar when I was 15 back in the Philippines. Moved to the U.S in ’21, started trying to pursue music back in 2023. I use a loop pedal when I play live so I can do my own Guitar riffs, basslines, beats, and I sing and rap over it. Musical inspirations are Ed Sheeran, the band IV of Spades, and The Eraserheads. Glad that I met Katy Day late last year and here we are. We started doing gigs together and started to form a band.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was never meant to be a smooth road. I believe that as someone who’s trying to pursue a music career, we’re meant to struggle and face hardships, so that we can gain good and bad experiences and grow as an artist. The biggest struggle has been the schedule with work, but other than that, it just falls on putting more stuff out there, which I’m trying to do more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
People recognize me as the guy who plays the loop pedal. I feel naked without it stepping alone on stage. I’m most proud of the places that I have played and the people that I have met along the way. The biggest difference is probably the ability to be a one-man band without relying on others and still be able to sing and rap along with it

What’s next?
I’m currently on the process of recording songs to be released this year. Working on a EP, hopefully I can finish 5 songs to share. More gigs to come and play on bigger venues and put myself and katy out there
