Today we’d like to introduce you to Promise Houston.
We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing nails at 17! When I got out of high school I went straight to cosmetology school to get my manicurist license. Expecting that I’d like to do nails when I got done but it actually took me onto another path which is doing pedicures!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been up and down. Gaining clientele I can say has been a challenge having my suite so far out, not a lot of people know about black owned salons being in there city. Either already having their own nail tech/pedicurist, I understand people not wanting to trust or try new things because this industry can be traumatizing to those who have had bad experiences
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business name is PediPromise. I focus on the heath of one’s feet, one pedicure at a time. I offer waterless pedicures, and the implements I use on people are safe! My waterless pedicures are unique because you’re not soaking your feet in water like most people would think, I use a steamer and hot towels for my service. I talk my way through the service especially if it’s your first time in my chair that way people know what’s going on, they know why I’m doing these steps, so that my clients can feel safe, and learn.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was bossy, independent. I knew someday I’d be the boss of something! So I feel like I’ve always moved in that way.
