Meet Movmnt Band of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Movmnt Band.

Hi Movmnt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We started in 2014 as “The Movement Jam Sessions” at Southern Methodist University, playing music and meeting other musicians. That evolved into creating our own grooves and songs which we enjoyed. In 2015, we went official as “Movmnt Band” in the current band configuration. Over the years we’ve released 3 albums, played countless shows in Texas, and gained fans literally all over the world! Our next chapter and Big New Release “MOFI” comes out mid 2026. It’s been an incredible adventure, and this year is a continuation as we expose people to the sound of Movmnt Band.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road to say the least! We’ve had to take this past year to mostly rest and refocus to avoid feeling burnt out. Juggling the act of creating music and reaching new people through performances is tough as well. We want people to enjoy our new music coming out, but also get into the incredible music we’ve released before. All of this takes dedication to the music and the brotherhood we’ve built as a band in order to move forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We simply create music that expands the taste of the listener. For example, we have a new album coming out in mid 2026 called “MOFI” that gives our audience an experience of Jazz Fusion and Lofi. While some might not be familiar with those genres together, we hope that whoever listens will enjoy it enough to listen to other Lofi and Jazz Fusion artists. All in all, we want to give people an experience of music they’ve never had before.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck (in our opinion) has had little to do with our journey so far. While others may have had more favors and help along the way, we truly had to work hard from the ground up as a band to get to where we are. We appreciate the blessing of still being together after 10 years and still going strong. However, there’s more work to do and people to reach. We appreciate every step of our musical journey.
