Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Maney.
Hi Mary, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey in the events industry began in the trenches of a traditional event production company. It was an invaluable training ground that taught me the know how and operation from the ground up. I decided it was time to bring my own vision to life. In 2016, I officially founded my own business, launching a specialized branch dedicated entirely to modernizing event styling. My mission was ambitious but clear: to introduce cutting-edge decorations and cohesive, forward-thinking designs to a market ready for something new. Today, Lounge and Event Rentals has proudly grown to become the number one event furniture rental company in the DFW metroplex
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When guests walk into a beautifully curated venue, they see the polished final product—the sleek lounges, the modern aesthetic, the seamless design. What they don’t see is the gritty reality of what it takes to build that experience from the ground up. Launching Lounge and Event Rentals in 2016 wasn’t bankrolled by a massive initial investment. In fact, getting this company off the ground was the hardest thing I have ever done.I was operating on a shoestring budget. Every single dollar was accounted for, and every expense carried the weight of potentially making or breaking the company
Because my limited capital was tied up in acquiring that crucial first run of high-quality inventory, there was absolutely no room in the budget to hire a delivery crew or a warehouse team. That meant the heavy lifting fell entirely on my shoulder.
The “glamorous” world of event design often meant waking up before dawn, personally deadlifting heavy sofas into the back of a delivery box truck, driving to the venue, unloading and styling the space, and then returning after midnight to break it all down. It was intense, back-breaking physical labor. My early success wasn’t built on a comfortable corporate strategy; it was fueled entirely by physical exhaustion, sheer willpower, and sweat equity
.I couldn’t afford a team, so I became the team. I was the visionary, the designer, and the delivery crew all rolled into one.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As the owner of Lounge and Event Rentals, my role has evolved significantly from those early, grueling days of deadlifting furniture and stretching every dollar. Today, while I still oversee the overarching operations, my true passion and primary focus lie in the creative and strategic heartbeat of the company: specialized lounge furniture design and trend forecasting.I am constantly scouting for emerging trends, hunting for unique textures, and sourcing innovative silhouettes that will elevate the local event scene.
From the initial design consultation to the final teardown, we are incredibly proud to offer seamless, easy rental solutions
